Moxie Fab Thanks blog hop

Hi everyone! Welcome to a Moxie Fab blog hop!  Some of you may know that Cath Edvalson from Paper Crafts has stepped down as the Trends Editor of Paper Crafts magazine an as the creative force behind the amazing Moxie Fab World blog.  As testament to the impact Cath had on the paper crafting world, hundreds of designers got together and participated in this surprise blog hop honoring her.

I was lucky enough to meet Cath all 3 times I went to CHA.  She really is the nicest sweetest person and even though I don't worked much with Paper Crafts, she had the ability to make me feel like I was the most special designer in the room each time.  And I will never forget that my VERY FIRST publication was from her!  I still have that acceptance email :)

Today I thought I would take a trip down memory lane of how Cath influenced and encouraged me over the years.
Here is a photo I took of my very first card publication, this was the March/April 2009 issue.
Over the years, I played along in many of the Moxie Fab challenges.
Here is one of the very first challenge cards for her The Value of Vintage challenge from June 2009.
This card used vintage buttons from my great granny's tin!  All my grannies had long since passed, but I made this card in honor of them.
and here is the inside
So Cath, here's to you!  I know you will do great things with the next chapter of your life.  This card is for you because YOU'RE PRETTY AMAZING!
Like I said there are hundreds of designers hopping today.  You can go to the Moxie Fab World blog and get a master list of every one participating - I am number 67.
Lin Brandyberry is before me on the hop and when you finish here, you can head on over to Kim Howard's blog!
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy this very special blog hop!

Moxie Fab speech bubble challenge

Hi everyone! Cath over on Moxie Fab World has a couple fun challenges going on right now.  I played along with the Speech Bubble challenge.

My card uses the cutie set from Technique Tuesday called Chit Chat and some new Fancy Pants papers, Trendsetter.  The bow is made from the new Faux Canvas ribbons -love these, they are similar to seam binding ribbon, but thicker.
I love the speech bubble shapes in this set.  The hearts are my favorite.  I used a light green copic marker to highlight each heart.  I love the fresh colors in this Fancy Pants collection, so you will probably be seeing more cards using these papers.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Addicted to washi tape

Hi everyone! Yep, I definitely think I'm addicted to washi tape!  I am determined NOT to let my tape sit untouched (like I do with so many of my embellishments), so I have a couple more cards to share today.

I was inspired to make a little set of cards that coordinates with my card from last week. I used the same stamp set from JustRite, Grand Sentiments. I used My Mind's Eye washi tape along with some MME enamel dots and Spellbinders Jewels Flowers and Flourishes die set.  P.S. bonus points for me using the enamel dots, those babies have sat on my desk untouched for a month!
Just Because card
Happy Birthday card
These cards are also for the Washi Tape Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  The challenge is to use your tape in an interesting way.  I used tape on my card in strips, but I also used it to make coordinating die cuts. This is super easy to do, here is a picture showing how I did it.  You will notice that on most tapes the pattern is designed to match up with itself, allowing you to cover a bigger area seamlessly.
Notice how I tore a small piece of tape to keep the die in place on the paper (upper right corner)?  I can't tell you how many times I had to start over because the die slipped.  It's so easy and convenient to tear off an extra piece, it's worth the extra 2 seconds.  Trust me!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  I'll leave you with a couple close up pictures.

CASEing Lydia with Moxie fab felt

Hi everyone!  I have a double challenge card to share today.  I had a chance to play in this week's Featured Stamper challenge to case Lydia (Understandblue)!! I chose this cutie card to case.

I changed the border punch (mine was created with Spellbinders Edgeabilities die templates), sentiment, added a butterfly and made a felt blossom instead of a button.  I chose felt to play along with the Moxie Fab challenge -Fabulous Felt!  I saw the tutorial Julie posted yesterday and had to try it.  It was easy peasy!!  The stamp set I used was Happy Everything from Unity.  Another fabulous set that was begging for some ink.
I bought my felt from this Etsy store.  The quality is fabulous and she has amazing colors.  So, I am bummed that I stamped my sentiment crooked, but oh well -Lydia, I hope you still like it!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Happy Everything
Ink - Chocolate chip, Sage (AMuse)
Paper - Kraft and Ivory cardstock
Accessories - Peacock felt (Benzie Bazaar), brown twine, 2mm turquoise rhinestones (Pizzazz Aplenty), Spellbinders Edgeabilities Classic Triple Scallop and Classic Postage Stamp decorative insert

Three challenge cards to share

Hi everyone! I have several challenge cards to share. First up, today's SCS color challenge. We were challenged to use Cocoa, Coral, Celery, Blush and White. Love these together!! For my layout I used Taylored Expression's sketch #76. I used an image and sentiment from the much loved Unity's June KOM, Perfect in Every Way. That teapot is my FAVORITE!! I pieced it with a scrap of PTI DP. Oh and see that border? I bought the border punch today, it's Upper Crest from EK Success -got it at 40% off! The sentiment is embossed with white EP.
Next up is also a combined challenge. This month, Cath challenged us to a Bag Lady challenge -an inspiration challenge of several hand bags. I was drawn to the colors and crocheted flowers on this bag.

This time I went with the fun tree from Unity's Tiny Giggle Grove and the sentiment is from the June's KOM. I kept with the yellow center theme and added a yellow brad to each branch end. I just sort of played around until I found a combination of circles/flowers/brads/ribbons and button I liked. The layout is from a sketch challenge new to me. Karen from The Sweetest Thing has a Sweet Sunday sketch. This layout follows last week's sketch #28. I was drawn to all the circles!!

And last, but NOT least is this week's Featured Stamper challenge. This week we honored the very sweet and talented, Teresa (va.sunshine)!! Check out her gallery, this girl has it going on!!

I chose this card to case. I LOVED the colors and pattern papers she used on this card!! Seriously, my card didn't do it justice AT ALL, but I loved the bright colors of my ribbon and it sorta took me in this direction. I hope it puts a smile on her face!

The flower stem is from my new love, SU's Tiny Leaves sizzlits die, the felt flower is from Ebay and the pattern paper is from PTI Bitty Squares. The button, pink burlap string and Oregon Raindrops are from my girl, Heidi at Pinkhedgehog papercrafts.

Thanks for stopping by!

Going green with vintage buttons

Hi everyone! First, I want to thank everyone for the wonderful birthday wishes and cards! I feel very blessed. I had a WONDERFUL day. I am rarely surprised as I tend to pick up on things, BUT Bill and my mom hid a surprise visit from her VERY well! My mom drove up Sat morning and took me shopping! It was so much fun and really the only way to get me to buy something for myself. I tend to buy things for the family first then craft things for cards -kwim? After the inpromto shopping spree, my sweet hubby Bill took me shopping to Craft Warehouse and my LSS. Talk about a heavenly day!!
Here is a double challenge card I want to share. This card follows Dawn's Raspberry Suite color challenge -to use Cream, Black and New Leaf. Now, I don't have New Leaf, but in looking at PTI's site, it looks between Wasabi and Celery. I found some pattern paper from my DCWV Garden Party matstack looks to be an EXACT match!! Woot! I combined these colors with Cath's current Moxie Fab challenge -The Value of Vintage -to use something vintage on your card. Well, the 3 black buttons are vintage from my granny's tin! The sentiments are from Verve's set, Because of You. I thought it was so perfect on this card focusing on my granny's buttons.

Here is a picture of the inside of the card:

Here is a close up of the button details. It was SO hard to photograph. The buttons are a delish mix of details -they just DON'T make buttons like this anymore!!

Oh and P.S. how about that RIBBON? A-MA-ZING! It's from May Arts and you can find it at Sharon's Stamp Simply store. I browsed her blog and found an amazing card to case that she slit the top of her card and tied the ribbon thru it. I gave it a try and loved it as this ribbon is kinda bulky and can buckle the layers if glued under it. Thanks Sharon -you ROCK!

Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned. I am working on my 1 year Blogaversary super fun Blog Candy post!! ETA: It's posted and you can enter on this post.
My good friend, Rachel who owns the amazing store Hope Stamps Eternal is having a Design Team call! There is still time to apply, here are the details!!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Because of You
Paper - Vintage Cream, Black, Garden Party DCWV
Accessories - May Arts grosgrain striped ribbon, vintage buttons, burlap string

Bring on the YELLOW!

Yep, I said YELLOW!! LOL! For some reason, I am drawn to this color the last week or so. I have made several cards using it and it just makes me SMILE!

This card uses the colors for the Moxie Fab Citrus color challenge -Lemon Tart, Spring Moss and Wasabi. I used my favorite Verve set, Miracles Blossom and a couple mini primas for the blooms. The pot and stems are colored with copic markers. I used my BELOVED SU Top Note die to make the layered base. The ribbon is the Lemon Tart twill ribbon from PTI.

So, you wanna see a couple more yellow cards I made that also use the Top Note die? Hop on over to the Flourishes Blog cause today is my last week as the May Limelight Designer! Here is a little peek of one of the cards I have posted over there. All of the cards are kind of a set.
