Stamp Simply Christmas in August blog hop

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the Stamp Simply Christmas in August blog hop!  The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store needs more space for incoming product.  So some of the Christmas items are being offered at reduced prices to clear those shelves!  The Design Team has some Christmas projects to inspire you, and with the papers and some of the other items in use being offered at SALE prices, what better time to stock up than now?!  Sale prices are in effect while current inventory lasts -- when it's gone, it's gone!

I have a couple cards to share and both are MAILING FRIENDLY!  Don't get me wrong, I love my cards to have lots of prima flowers, buttons and huge bows, but I definitely need some flatter designs to mail the majority of my Christmas cards.  KWIM?

First up is a card that uses one of the ornament images from JustRite's Merry and Bright set.  The pattern paper is Webster's Pages, Waiting for Santa pad.  Even though I tied the ribbon into a double bow, the silk ribbon is so soft and thin, it still fits nicely in an envelope.

 Next up is a card using JustRite's Christmas Mini Sentiments set paired with paper from the KaiserCraft Be Merry pad.  The layout is for this week's Fall To Layout challenge.  Of course I was drawn to the circles on this sketch!

Butterfly birthday wish

Hi everyone!  I have a card to share that uses the new and fabulous Spellbinders LF-006 Wonderful Wings die templates (available 8/31).  Sigh...  these butterflies are just stunning!  My card uses the second to the smallest sized butterfly.  The pattern papers are from the new Webster's Pages, Spring Market 6x6 pad and the sentiment is from Unity's, All Smiles stamp set.

This is short and sweet today, I am off to do some more yard work.

Beautiful birthday card

Hi everyone!  I have a quick card to share then I resume packing for my trip to Phoenix for my Spellbinders Retreat!  I leave tomorrow morning and am super excited!!  My youngest SOOO wants to come with me -he has never been on a plane and it didn't help that he saw me pack Red Vines, lol!

This card uses the new StampTV kit, Springtime Silhouettes.  LOVE this set!  I used a marker for the flower portion and inked the stems with Old Olive.  Then I "stamped off" the image a second time and used it as a soft background for the sentiment.  The paper is from the Webster's Pages Garden Gala triple pack.  I just love using the delicate 1/4" silk ribbon this color is champagne and it is my FAVIE!!   The rhinestones and tiny flower are from Pizzazz Aplenty.

Friends with Flair

Hi everyone!  Today I am joining in with the Unity's Friends with Flair blog hop!  There is a master list of all the 50 designers participating in the FWF this week, so take a lookie at the Unity Blog for links to everyone playing today.

My card uses the fabulous stamp set and October 2010 Kit of the Month, Take Time to Laugh.  I colored in the letters lightly to coordinate with the pattern paper.  The AMAZING paper is from Webster's Pages, Sweet Santa.  I love that you can use it for more than Christmas!  I always seem to forget to use the images on the paper AS an image on my cards.  I love the vintage-y look of this and have to do it more. 

The gorgeous flowers are from Prima (of course) and I used a touch of silk ribbon and memory thread to embellish them.  I created the pattern paper circle frame using the Spellbinder circle dies. You can see an example of how I made the circle frame in this blog post.  The photo of my card was removed for publication, but the picture of the Nestabilities is still there.

My birthday card uses a Miss Anya image from Miss Anya Dressy, isn't she a cutie?  The papers are from Webster's Pages, Seaside Retreat (part of a triple pack) and I embellished with a couple prima flowers, some lovely lace trim, 1/4" silk ribbon and some punched branches and memory thread.  I colored the image with Copic markers and added stickles around the edges. 

Char, you have been a great friend and support to me and for that I say thank you and I love you!  Hugs to you on your special day!!

Stamp Simply November blog hop

I feel pretty, oh so pretty!

Hi everyone!  I finally have the SU Pretties Kit!  Yep, I have had my eye on this kit since it debuted a couple years ago, but it was just too expensive for me.  Well, no more -it's now on the SU Clearance rack for just $12!  I snagged this beauty for myself last week -and it IS so pretty!  I get my SU goodies from my demo friend, Kari Linder.

Here's my first card I made using the kit.  Ironically, I really struggled with this card!!  Like 4 hours struggle!  The large flower is bigger than I thought and for some reason I had trouble with a layout.  Anyway, here is my card.  I used a wedding sentiment from Verve's Love Story, and some pattern papers from Webster's Pages, Garden Gala.  The prima in the center is from the Athena flowers collection in Aurora Pink.

Next up I have a card using the adorable Harvest Birds Plain Jane set and sentiment from Autumn Splendor.  Aren't these little guys the cutest??  I added some bling to the tails and for the eyes.  My layout is from Julee's World Card Making Sketch #2.

I also have a card to share, yep another circle card!  Have you seen enough of these from me lately?  Well today's Fall To Layout sketch was A CIRCLE card.  So how could I not play along?  heehee! 

My card uses the lovely papers from Webster's Pages, Garden Gala Triple pack.  Can't get enough of these lovely prints.  The ribbon is the Wrinkled ribbon in cream, the thinness of this ribbon makes it perfect to make double bows with!  The perfectly matched Kaiser Pearls are in Blush, Latte and Bliss.

See the stamped border on both sides of the sentiment?  I used a rectangle frame stamp from the JustRite Stampers set, Victorian Nested Frames & Occasions.  Here's what I did with the stamp to get the borders that close together.  I cut the frame at all 4 corners and placed them closer together on the stamping block.  I've cut my stamps before, don't be afraid to do this!!

Because of the nature of JustRite stamps and their stamping blocks, putting the cut pieces back together in the original rectangle is EASY!  See?  Just snap them on and good as new:

Here is my card - NO do not adjust the color your screen!  Turned out my card didn't really match the cupcake -LOL! 

OK, so I really wanted to use some of my sadly neglected Webster's Pages, Life's Portrait papers and they just didn't match.  Oh well... I used them anyway!  The flower is from the fabulous Ippity set, Now and Always.  I just love piecing each part of the bloom with a different pattern paper.  It was a lot to cut out (I stamped each striped petal separately to keep the stripes oriented the same), but worth it in the end.  And the butterfly?  How adorable are the wings in the stripes???  The sentiment is from the Ippity set, Just Wanted to Say.

Verve Stamps release week

Hi everyone!  Welcome to Verve Release week!  Today starts the first day of Spotlighting over on the Verve Blog, and we are starting with the amazing set, Blue Skies.  This set is comprised of 16 images - an amazing notebook page, some flourishes, butterflies and great sentiment quotes!!  It's my favorite set of the release and I know you will love it too! 

I have 2 quick cards to share using this set.  This first card uses both of the butterflies and a GREAT universal sentiment.  I love that this sentiment can be used for many different occasions.  The pattern paper piece is from Lullaby Lane by Webster's Pages and I ruffled my favorite wrinkled ribbon.  

This next card uses one of my favorite quotes in the set.  Again, this one is pretty simple, just let the quote shine!  The pattern paper is Jubilee from Memory Box and the ribbon is white Faux ruffled suede.

As with every release, there are lots of fun stuff happening at Verve this week!!  The Release Week Challenges are going on now until Friday -if you play along you will be entered to win the entire release!!!  New Set Spotlights each day over at the Verve Blog and all of this leads up to the Release Party this Friday night (June 25th) at 9 pm Eastern Time over at the SCS Verve Forum!  Lots of prizes to be won, inspiring projects to be seen, and NEW STAMPS to be revealed!!

Kitchen remodel update:

I also wanted to mention that in a few days I will be leaving for a week for Bill's family reunion.  Then immediately upon return we will continue with our KITCHEN DEMO!  Yep, I said continue... cause over the weekend we began the demo by packing up and removing all the upper cabinets.  It all went without incident, if you don't count the SMALL KITCHEN FIRE!  Yeah, one of the upper cabinet pieces fell off and hit my stove.  Unbeknownst to us, it turned the back burner on to HIGH.  Well, we had the stovetop covered with cardboard and then with a thick blanket for protection.  About 45 minutes later, I see flames and a WHOLE LOTTA smoke billowing up from the stove.  It all ended well with minor damage to the floor -which will be replaced, so WHEW!  I won't forget to post pictures!!

Long story short, I will be absent from my blog with the exception of some pre-scheduled posts until the end of July.  Until then, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Verve Release Day and the last set Spotlight -One Person

Hi everyone!  Today is Verve's RELEASE DAY!  I hope you'll come by our Release Party tonight for a little chatting, set reveals, winner announcements and some more sneak peek eye candy from the Divas!  The party starts at 6PM Pacific, and at 8PM Pacific the sets will go live in the Verve store!

My sneak peek card uses one of the amazing quotes in this set.  I used a piece of Webster's Pages, Postcards from Paris papers.  (Note, Stamp Simply Ribbon Store is out of this paper now, but has plenty of Graphic 45 papers that have the same vintage feel to them!).  I used a layout from Sherry's Zva Creative sketch challenge.  Like I often do, I got 1/2 the challenge right -it was also supposed to be a COLOR challenge, using light blue, yellow and light gray.  Seriously, I have to read thru these challenges better and WRITE them down!   Sigh... at least I got the sketch right!!  LOL!

The felt flowers are from Zva's Cool and Cozy mix and the flower is a Baby Blue Sweet Blossom. I used a piece of SU! felt ribbon tied with some silver cord.

Some buttons, a prima and a glittered heart... happy sigh

Hi everyone!  While I was cruisin' around my Craft Warehouse the other day, I literally stopped in my tracks at the GORGEOUS Prima flowers (Camelot Roses Gwenlyn)!  Wha...?!?  SOOO pretty!

These inspired me to pull out my Webster's Pages Postcards from Paris, that I got from the Stamp Simply Store.  Sharon is out of this paper now, but she has some wonderful Graphic 45 papers that have the same vintage-y feel!

My card follows Jen's Sketch For You to Try.  I loved that 3rd panel on the sketch, I just HAD to use some of the fabulous chocolate Velvet ribbon that I have been hoarding.  It was almost painful to cut into that loveliness!!  Even MORE so because I messed up my first piece -  SOB!  The glittered chipboard heart is by Melissa Frances and the wonderful sentiment is from Verve's So Happy set - this set is an oldie, but goodie!!
