Bring Back Beautiful -Beauty of a Bow

Hi everyone!  Welcome to November's Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful challenge! As we enter into the busiest time of the card making season, we want to see how you use beauty and artistry and wrap it up with a bow… with ribbon! You don’t have to create a bow, just show us your favorite way to add elegance to your cards or creations with ribbon. My card uses the amazing Flourishes set, Christmas Classics.  What stunning images in this set!  I used the Cardinal image and paired it with the classic Christmas papers from K&Company.  The card is made from the Glad Tidings card making kit!  My bow is a double bow made from May Arts Burgundy wrinkled ribbon.  I love the softness of this ribbon, making it a breeze to make double bows with!!  See the curly gold thread?  This is from the new line of Memory Thread by DMC -love it!  Comes in 18 colors!!  Perfect to enhance any bow!!

Here is today's challenge: As we get closer to the season of giving, let’s take the wraps off your creativity to come up with beautiful ways to gift give. OK, I'm not so sure my gift project is beautiful, uhhh maybe more like CUTE?  I made little Halloween "trick or treat" bags using the Flourishes set, Witching You a Happy Halloween.  You see, every year my neighbor makes a HUGE (too huge) Halloween bag for my boys, Ryan and Daniel.  It REALLY makes them feel special to "trick or treat" his house and have something special waiting just for them.  So, this year I made a special treat bags for a couple of Daniel and Ryan's friends.  They each picked 2 and when those friends "trick or treat" OUR door this year, they will have something special for them!

First I stamped an image in Stazon black ink on the bottom corner of the bag and set aside to dry.  You can see the cat image stamped here:

Next, I made the bag toppers by using the SU Top Note die scored in half longways.  I decorated each bag slightly different with colors, image, bling and sentiment combinations.  Here are close up shots of the toppers.

I bought a variety of creepy Halloween candy and toys (from the Dollar Tree) and filled the goodie bags.  I folded the black piece over the top and stapled it closed.  Then I decorated the white panel and glued it to the bag topper -this way the staples are hidden from the front.  Here is a close up of one bag.

Bring Back Beautiful -Rustic Beauty

Hi everyone!  Whoa, it's been over a week since I last posted, but things are crazy with my garage remodel and back to school preparation.  I will post some garage pictures in a day or two.

Now, on to today's post!  Welcome to September's Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful challenge!  I want to give a HUGE thank you to everyone who played along in our very first challenge.  Check out the August True Beauties over on the Flourishes blog!

This month's theme is Rustic Beauty.  As the leaves start to change colors to usher in fall, we want to see your rustic beauty.  Interpret this challenge however you like – want to use a little distressing? Shades of rust? Things that look aged or antiqued? You choose!  Just make sure the end result has a rustic feel to it! My card uses Flourishes Sunflowers set.  Sigh... wait, make that a HAPPY SUNFLOWER sigh!  I love this set.  I stamped the largest sunflower image on cream cardstock and then again on a scrap piece.  I colored them with my copic markers and cut out the entire image and only the center and 6 petals on the second one and popped it up on dimensionals.  I added a touch of yellow stickles in the center.

My card uses a tiny bit of lace that I had in my sewing scrap box, a touch of sponging, a little distressing on the sunflower petals and some Zva Creative Rhinestone flourishes.  I don't consider myself a "rustic" girl, but this turned out pretty rustic, I think!  

Oh and I also decorated the inside of the card!  Yep, GASP!  It seems I rarely have time to touch the inside lately, but my girl Amy always does such a fantastic job, I just HAD to case what she did on this one.

Bring Back Beautiful

 Hi everyone!  I am so thrilled to be a part of a brand new Flourishes challenge called Bring Back Beautiful!  This team was started by Flourishes to truly showcase beauty in card making – whether it be in a beautifully colored image, a fabulous way to incorporate an embellishment or a new twist on a card layout. This challenge really focuses on cards showcasing beautiful stamping.

 My card uses the floral image from the set, Spring Bouquet.  Isn't it amazing?  There are so many coloring possibilities with this beauty.  I chose to use my Copic markers, I fell in love with Copic markers over a year ago and have never turned back!!

The pattern paper is all from the Memory Box, Jubilee.  The soft patterns in this collection just make me smile!!
