FWF Hugs shaker card

Hi everyone!  It's Friends With Flair time!  I haven't had time to play along with Unity's Friends with Flair in such a long time, so I busted out my Unity stamps and played along today.

Everything OLD is NEW again, right?  Case in point, shaker cards are all the rage right now and here's a link to my first shaker card back in 2007!  Shaker parts can be both large and small.  I made my shaker part the entire card front using my Circle dies, but I have something in the works using smaller butterflies.
Not gonna lie, shaker cards are kind of a pain to make and after several hours of fiddling with my beads and sequins I remembered WHY I didn't make many all those years ago!  I cut my foam squares in half and started to line the inside of my card frame.  After placing the small pieces down, I switched to cutting larger pieces from my foam tape roll to cover more ground.
Next I peeled the backing of the bottom portion only and stuck it to my card base.  My thought was to hold the top open and pour in the beads/sequins and then seal up the rest of the circle.  Wellll... I ended up with way too many beads, so I had to pry the top open and pour some of the beads out. Which created a hot mess with beads stuck to the adhesive pieces all over the circle.  I fixed it eventually, but I am pretty sure there is an easier way to make shaker cards.  Any tips are welcome!!

Back to my card, the image is Mug of Hugs which is from Unity's Stamps of the Week collection and I think it's ADORABLE (not sure what set the sentiment is from).  I colored the mug with Copic markers.  I used another of my charms and even used one of my purple beads match.  Go me!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Here is a close up picture.

  10. Oh the round shaker is terrific! I don't have tips for you trying to figure out the best way to get just the right amt of stuff in, but I think I'll keep watching your blog to see if you find out. I know the effort it takes to cut all those bits of foam tape... you did GREAT work!

  12. Love your shaker card. It turned out great. Thanks for sharing.
I've posted 33 shakers so far. I use foam tape on some and foam sheets on others depending on the shaker part. I like foam sheets better. I always have to remind myself to add the acetate window before the foam. For some reason that is the step that gets me lol.

  14. ADORABLE!!! Love this sweet shaker you made. I have only done a few and have to reinvent the wheel each time. Ha! I found that long narrower pieces of foam were faster for me to go around the circle. Love the little charms you added to this. Wonderful work!!! Saw you on FWF. TFS!!
