Avery Elle masking challenge

Hi everyone!  I spent some time this week reorganizing my dies (post showing my new storage to come) and while I was doing that, I uncovered a few stamp sets that I bought and have never used!  GASP!  Right?!?  I vowed to get those stamp sets inky and I started with Avery Elle.  So today I played along with the Avery Elle Masking challenge and used my new Petals and Stems stamp set.

 Confession time, I really don't do much masking.  I mean I know what it is, but it always confuses me as to WHICH image to hide and I always get it wrong.  So I end up fussy or die cutting my images and call it a day.  But masking was the challenge, so I jumped in.  I took a few pictures to share just in case you get lost like I do :-)

 Step 1: Stamp the image onto a post-it note, making sure to stamp a good portion on the sticky part.  

Step 2: Cut out the image, this is what you will use to mask your image on your paper

Step 2(b): I stamped some "fiddling" or practice images and cut them out.  This helps me visualize how and where I want them on my card.

 Step 3: Stamp the image you will want to APPEAR ON TOP, in my case it was the small flower

Step 4: Cover that image with the post-it note

Step 5: Stamp the second image over the post-it note and that will APPEAR ON THE BOTTOM, in my case it was my large flower.

Now if I was super advanced with my masking skills I would have also masked the stem branches on this, but hey, I know when to call it a day!  lol!

Labels Forty-Two Happy birthday

Hi everyone!  Today's birthday card features one of the newest label shapes, Labels Forty-Two along with it's companion Decorative Accents set.  I just love it's delicate almost square like shape and the companion Accents set is so delicate and pretty!  I thought they would make a fun background for this birthday card.

Simple butterfly cards

Hi everyone!  I have a couple fun cards to share today!  Both use the gorgeous Les Papillions Two butterfly die set, framed by one of my favorite labels shapes, Labels Twenty and sentiments are from JustRite called Large Elegant Sentiments (a must have set!).

First up is a card I made using the M-Bossibilities folder Quilted Delight to emboss the top portion of the card.  The pattern paper I used on this is from MME, Tangerine with a strip of 1/8" velvet ribbon along the bottom.

Given this is a one layer card, I turned the folder sideways to emboss only the top portion of my pre-scored card.  I taped it down so it wouldn't slip and get a skewed result.

For my next card, I did some criss-cross scoring with my Scor-Buddy.  It shows you can get a great embossed detail even if you don't have any folders.  For this butterfly, I cut/embossed the top layer in vellum and added stickles to it.  I discovered that when stickles dries on vellum, it curls the paper.  So I manually curled it so the wings curled upward.  The pattern paper used on this is from Webster's Pages, Recorded.

Happy birthday tag

Hi everyone!!  I have a fun birthday tag to share today.  To give my tag some texture, I cut it in the tag shape (which measures 4 1/2" x 2 1/4") and then embossed it with my Dotted Flowers M-bossibilities folder.  I love the embossed pattern as a back drop for my blossom.  

Then I busted out my much neglected felt and alternated my layers with felt and pattern paper.  I get asked all the time if Spellbinders dies cut through felt and the answer is YES!  The dies are deeply etched and cuts felt beautifully!  The bloom is made with both the Blossom and Standard Circles dies.

Here is the Dotted Flowers folder.  I used Side A for my tag, but the great thing about these folders is they are double sided and you get 2 in 1!!!

Birthday Wishes

Hi everyone!  I have a birthday card to share.  This one is pretty simple, some die cuts, bling and pattern paper.  You know, I love these Hexagon dies and really should use them more.  They are so fun!

I am having trouble with my photos all of a sudden.  They are uploading grey, dingy and blurry -it's like a gremlin snuck into Blogger or something.  The picture is clear on my computer but as soon as I upload it to blogger, it gets blurry.  Sigh...

Spellbinders project -Play ball!

Hi everyone!  I am taking some time away from crafting this summer, so I thought I would share a scrapbook page I made for the Spellbinders gallery earlier this year. You can find this and more projects in the Spellbinders Idea Gallery.

I made this page with some pictures of my son Ryan at one of his T-Ball games.  LOVE these pictures.  His elementary school even blew up the main photo into poster sized and put it up in the gym!

I used the Circle and Cogs die sets and paired them with the rhinestone circles from Want2Scrap.

Celebrate with Prima

Hi everyone!  I have a fun circle card to share using some goodies from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  This card uses lots of new goodies from Prima Marketing.  I love the new Lady Bird collection -the papers are such fun and bright colors, kind of a departure for Prima and more to my style.  

The flowers are from the Mini Rose Stems Divine and Life Time packs and the gray strip across the card is the Lady Bird fabric tape.  The sentiment is from JustRite's set, With Gratitude Labels One.

CAS-ual Friday Stamps: Beanstalks

Hi everyone!  Welcome to CAS-ual Friday Stamps February sneak peeks!  I am thrilled to be guest designing and joining Michele, her team and fellow guest designer, Glenda this month.  I really love Michele's designs and have been a fan since her first release last October.  I also had the pleasure of meeting her at CHA and have to say, she is as nice as she is beautiful!  Am I right?!?

Today we are peeking the set, Beanstalks.  This is a set of 5 images and 4 sentiments and is my favorite set of the release!  I know you will love it too!  I stamped the sentiment and leaves flourish and colored them with a Copic marker.  The fun, bright papers are from Fancy Pants, The Good Life 6x6 pad.

I even busted out some oldie but goodie felt flowers from my stash.  The pale green flower is actually white colored with the same Copic marker as the leaves.

Hi everyone!  I have another scrapbook page to share with you that I made for Spellbinders Idea Gallery.  I just love this picture of my boys.  I remember taking the picture of Daniel and it was a happy coincidence that Ryan in his car seat is in the background!

I used a combination of Labels Twenty-Six dies and Majestic Elements Marvelous Square dies, to create the background. The rolled flowers and leaves are from Bitty Blossoms and the flourishes are from Jewels Flowers and Flourishes!

Happy for you banner card

Hi everyone!  I have a CAS banner card to share with you today.  This one really was super easy to make.  I used Spellbinders sets, Nested Pennants and Nested Lacey Pennants to create the banner.  The paper I used was scraps from my On the Sunny Side 6x6 pad by My Mind's Eye.  What fun happy colors!  The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse, Compact Sentiments.

Always and Forever

Hi everyone!  Over the next couple days, I thought I would share a couple of the cards I posted over on the CardMaker blog from April and May.  On the day my post went live I posted a sneak peek of my card, but I know not everyone has the chance to click over and look, so I thought I would recap them here.  Also, I am knee deep in doing CHA projects and recovering from a stomach bug, so don't have anything new to share!

This card was my very first blog post with the blog team which was posted on April 13th.  My assignment was to write about my favorite product and I chose to combine my 2 favorites -Spellbinders™ die templates and bling which equals - Want2Scrap Nestabling™!  Here is my card which uses a lovely wedding cake image from the stamp set With This Ring, from Gina K Designs.

Here is a step by step showing my process to adhere the Nestabling.  The first thing I do is take the Nestabling out of the package and lay them over my die cut to get a feel for which size I should use and for exact placement.

A tip for sticking them down is to gently peel one off at the top and stick it to the top of your die cut. Then slowly work your way down lightly tapping it as you go. You can adjust it as you work your way down for a perfect fit.

I love how easy and convenient Nestabling is!  They add just that extra little touch to the Spellbinders Labels shapes you already have!!
