Water coloring with Distress Inks

Hi everyone!  I have a quick and easy coffee card to share today.  Full confession, I bought a fancy water color palette, and I'm embarrassed to admit that I'm intimidated by it! Honestly, I open it up and unless the exact color in the palettes are exactly what I want, I'm a bit lost.
SO... I'm in the process of starting an online water color class to help me with mixing colors and learn the basics.
But in the meantime, using  distress inks is a super easy way to water color images.
OK, this is nothing new and I've even done this before, but I need to remember it more often! Just tap your ink pad on a solid surface and spritz with water. Dip your brush and start coloring.
For my card, I stamped the coffee word cloud sentiment on water color paper twice using my mini Misti, wet my piece of water color paper, then dropped (painted) in some of the ink.
After it dried, I die cut it into my cup shape, moving the die around until I got the perfect pattern of colors.
The stamp and die set is called A Cup of Java  and I used the smaller of the 2 java cup sizes on this card. I just LOVE that I found Prima flower in my stash that coordinates perfectly. I pulled off the center pearl that came with it and put in a yellow rhinestone instead. The black flourishes under the flower are actually made from the steam die in the Java die set!

Here's a close up picture. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Happy Valentines Day

Hi everyone! I have a fun Valentines day card to share and I can't believe how fast Valentines is approaching! I've been busy reorganizing and falling back in love with my craft area (if you follow me on Instagram or FB, you'll have seen some pictures). After I'm completely finished, I'll do a blog post with lots of photos!

Back to my card. I fussy cut the sentiment from the All Occasions Sentiments SET 1 and popped it over a diagonal strip of die cuts. To make the strip, I used the smallest die from the Fishtail Sentiment Banners dies and adhered alternating die cuts, end to end. I used 3 kinds of papers and I let the gorgeous gold embossed paper dictate the other colors I chose. The paper is from the Kaisercraft Fleur 6.5 x 6.5 paper pack.  I've used a lot of this paper pad, because it's JUST THAT PRETTY!
Both the stamp and dies are from Stamp Simply Clear Stamps.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Wood veneer flower card

Hi everyone!  I have a fun card to share.  I have quite the stash of wood veneer shapes and almost never use them.  It's one of those things where I think they're pretty and just want to save them -kwim?  Anyway, I pulled them out and used 3 on this card.  Woohoo!
The cute circle frame was made by combining the Splendid Circles and Standard Circles dies.  The diagonal strips are the negative pieces from the new Diagonal Chevron die!  (Stay tuned for the card they came from on Saturday).
Here is the Diagonal Chevron die, totally cute, right?!?  I used the top 3 and 4 strips for my card, I die cut that part of the die an extra time for the bottom of my card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Here is a close up picture.

Medallion note cards

Hi everyone! I have a fun set of note cards to share today.  My sister loves to give away my cards as little thank you gifts and I made this set for her neighbor who fed and walked her dog when she was on vacation.

These all use the same Medallion One die as a focal point and paper pack from Bo Bunny.  I just changed up the color of the Prima flower and sentiment.
Here is the Die D-Lite Medallion set of 2 dies.  It's so pretty!!
Here's my card with a white medallion and purple flower
Gray medallion, yellow flower
Peach medallion, tangerine flower

Last but not least - Light aqua medallion, aqua flower
These were pretty easy to make.  The card bases are 3 3/4" square which I chose to get the right amount of pattern paper showing around the label shape.  I used my Wink of Stella glitter pen to to each flower for that extra shimmer.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Labels with Tapestry cards

Hi everyone!  I'm back from a small vacation and hit the ground running!  I wanted to use a couple of the newer Spellbinders Labels shapes in a fun way.  I die cut the label shape into my cardstock and backed them with one of the new Expandables dies, Tapestry.

Both cards are very similar as I used the same washi tapes and colors for the accents, but the label shapes are different.
This one uses Labels Thirty-two and I added some enamel dots and Prima flowers as accents.
This one uses Labels Thirty-six and I made the flowers from the Rose Creations dies.
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day!  Here is a close up of the label/Tapestry detailing.

Simple butterfly cards

Hi everyone!  I have a couple fun cards to share today!  Both use the gorgeous Les Papillions Two butterfly die set, framed by one of my favorite labels shapes, Labels Twenty and sentiments are from JustRite called Large Elegant Sentiments (a must have set!).
First up is a card I made using the M-Bossibilities folder Quilted Delight to emboss the top portion of the card.  The pattern paper I used on this is from MME, Tangerine with a strip of 1/8" velvet ribbon along the bottom.
Given this is a one layer card, I turned the folder sideways to emboss only the top portion of my pre-scored card.  I taped it down so it wouldn't slip and get a skewed result.
For my next card, I did some criss-cross scoring with my Scor-Buddy.  It shows you can get a great embossed detail even if you don't have any folders.  For this butterfly, I cut/embossed the top layer in vellum and added stickles to it.  I discovered that when stickles dries on vellum, it curls the paper.  So I manually curled it so the wings curled upward.  The pattern paper used on this is from Webster's Pages, Recorded.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!  Here is a close up of the vellum butterfly detail.
Card Deets:
Spellbinder dies: ES-014 Quilted Delight M-Bossabilities®, S4-395 Les Papillions Two Shape

Washi tape mini cards

Hi everyone!  Today I took some time and made a few mini cards JUST FOR FUN.  I just got the new Washi tape from MME from the new Chalk Studio line and fell in love!
I thought I would make a quick set of birthday cards using the new Birthday Vintage Labels Four stamp set.  The sentiments and fonts in this set are super cute and perfect for the chalkboard craze that's going on right now!  I stamped them with Versamark ink and embossed with white powder.

These measure 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" and each use a different piece of washi tape from the set, use different Prima flowers and sentiments.
Here is the group shot
This one uses the pink/black stripes tape with pink flower accents and pearls

This one uses the leaf garland tape with turquoise flower accents and sequins
This one uses the banner tape with a mint green and pale blue flower accents and rhinestones

Stamped layered lace border card

Hi everyone!!  I was inspired by THIS OLDER CARD to redo it by using a stamp to create the border layers instead of pattern paper.  I used the Classic Lace Edges One stamp set from JustRite which is designed to coordinate with my favorite Classic Scallop Edgeabilities dies.
The flower is by Prima from one of the Mini Rose Stems Collections (I think the Tea Time pack) and the little tag is from Spellbinders set, Charmed, I'm Sure -which is my all-time favorite tag set and I stamped the little "hello" from the Vintage Banners set!!  The ribbon is the fabulous 1.5" silk in ivory.

Well, that's it for today.  It's the first day of the boys summer vacation and things are gonna get busy here in the Woerner household.  I will be taking it slow with my design teams this summer, but you can always see me on my regular schedule on the Spellbinders Blog.

Simple washi tape cards

Hi everyone!  I had a chance to play with some Prima washi tape and have a couple cards to share.  These are super duper easy peasy.  A couple strips of tape and a few embellishments laying on my desk and done!
This first card uses the Spellbinders Hearts One die, a flower from the Multi-Pack Divine Collection (now discontinued) -link to mini flower dies to use instead.
This second one is even easier, with only the same flower, rhinestones and sentiment as embellishments. These would be perfect for quick thank you cards.
Well, that's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Celebrate bracket borders card

Hi everyone!  I had a chance to play with some new JustRite stamp sets and have a card to share.  As soon as I saw the border stamps from the Bracket Borders One set (which coordinates with the Spellbinders A2 Borders One dies) I knew I had to use it. The bracket border shape is one of my favorites.  The sentiment frame is from the Vintage Banners stamp set.  I wasn't so sure I wanted white for the sentiment banner, but I tried kraft, yellow and blue and nothing looked right, so I settled -just one of those things.
For my embellishments, I had some extra flower die cuts laying around from my scrapbook page project (Savvy Saturday video on the Spellbinders blog) and ended up putting one behind the yellow Interlude Prima flower.  I used some My Mind's Eye stick pins from my stash, but Sharon has lots of beautiful pins in the store that you could use to recreate this.
Well, that's it for today.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.  Here is a close up picture.
