Three challenge cards to share

Hi everyone! I have several challenge cards to share. First up, today's SCS color challenge. We were challenged to use Cocoa, Coral, Celery, Blush and White. Love these together!! For my layout I used Taylored Expression's sketch #76. I used an image and sentiment from the much loved Unity's June KOM, Perfect in Every Way. That teapot is my FAVORITE!! I pieced it with a scrap of PTI DP. Oh and see that border? I bought the border punch today, it's Upper Crest from EK Success -got it at 40% off! The sentiment is embossed with white EP.
Next up is also a combined challenge. This month, Cath challenged us to a Bag Lady challenge -an inspiration challenge of several hand bags. I was drawn to the colors and crocheted flowers on this bag.

This time I went with the fun tree from Unity's Tiny Giggle Grove and the sentiment is from the June's KOM. I kept with the yellow center theme and added a yellow brad to each branch end. I just sort of played around until I found a combination of circles/flowers/brads/ribbons and button I liked. The layout is from a sketch challenge new to me. Karen from The Sweetest Thing has a Sweet Sunday sketch. This layout follows last week's sketch #28. I was drawn to all the circles!!

And last, but NOT least is this week's Featured Stamper challenge. This week we honored the very sweet and talented, Teresa (va.sunshine)!! Check out her gallery, this girl has it going on!!

I chose this card to case. I LOVED the colors and pattern papers she used on this card!! Seriously, my card didn't do it justice AT ALL, but I loved the bright colors of my ribbon and it sorta took me in this direction. I hope it puts a smile on her face!

The flower stem is from my new love, SU's Tiny Leaves sizzlits die, the felt flower is from Ebay and the pattern paper is from PTI Bitty Squares. The button, pink burlap string and Oregon Raindrops are from my girl, Heidi at Pinkhedgehog papercrafts.

Thanks for stopping by!

A couple cards and a couple shout outs

First the shout outs! Jacksonbelle Embellishments is having a FABULOUS sale -everything 30% off. Lindsey is making room for all the CHA goodies she ordered! The sale goes until Tuesday (2/10) midnight! Just enter Promo Code: Feb30 and it will take the discount off your order!!

Second shout out is for my friend Lori (Paper Sunshine)! She enabled my Edward obsession even more by letting me know about www.Thecutestblogontheblock.com. I found a wonderful BLINKIE! Check it out on the right -right below my NEW Edward eye candy slideshow!! LOL!

Now on to the cards. The first card is a triple challenge card. The first is from Flourishes to create a card using a lovely peacock feather as inspiration -isn't it PRETTY? I used the lovely blue and green colors with a splash of orange! You can find the details here. The next was this week's Ways to Use it challenge which was to layer your embellishments. I layered my prima with a button and ribbon.

And lastly, I used Tayolor's FAB cupcake sketch, TECC54! I painted the coffee cups and the prima flower with Angel Wings Shimmerz. The fabu 1/8" organdy ribbon is from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts. Here is a pic of some of the supplies I used. (you can click on it and it will enlarge).

This second card is for the wonderful Color Challenge going on at PaperTrey Ink!! It ends tonight, midnight PST so hurry! The challenge was to use Summer Sunrise, Ripe Avocado, Pure Poppy and Ocean Tides. Well, I only had Summer Sunrise, so the rest I substituted Old Olive, Red Rose and Baja Breeze -not sure if they really match all that well as I have never seen the colors IRL!

I wanted to go simple, as I was really short on time! So I cased the layout of one of the gift sets I did for one of my Dirty Dozen monthly themes -colors of the rainbow. So fun and versitile way to get colors on a card!! The sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Basics!

Card Deets (coffee card):
Stamps: Coffee with Friends (Flourishes)
Paper: old olive, MME magnolia DP
Ink: adirondack pitch black
Accessories: copic markers, prima, 1/8" organdy ribbon, 1" grosgrain light blue ribbon, rectangle nesties, shimmerz

Card Deets (color challenge card):

Jacksonbelle Tuesday challenge

It's Tuesday, and time for Jacksonbelle Embellishment's weekly challenge. This week, to use STITCHING on your card -real, faux, stamped, whatever -just stitching! As always anyone can play along, you don't have to use JBelle products, but if you don't have any why not click here and check out the store? If you post to SCS, you can use the keyword, JBE037 so we can find them!
This challenge was tough for me, I am not a sewer (my sewing maching is in it's box in the garage -GASP!), so I opted for the stamped kind of stitching. Sassafrass Lass has a stamp set with all kinds of stitching borders and such, called Stitched Borders. The cupcake is from Inkadinkado, Birthday Cupcakes.

I did something different with the cupcake, this time I colored the image with Shimmerz Gold Glimmer and Wintergreen. I highlighted the sprinkles and bottom with copics and then painted on the Shimmerz. I love how it turned out, very sparkly with a hint of color! I also painted the Shimmerz Gold Glimmer on both primas. The DP is from Basic Grey, Urban Prairie -so love that pack, the colors are fantastic!! The sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink, Birthday Basics. Here is a close up picture, I am not sure if the sparkle shows up in the picture.

For the sketch, I followed Taylors Cupcake challenge TECC52TV -it's part of her anniversary celebration of sketches!
Here are some of the supplies I used.

If you haven't had a chance to check it out, I did a tutorial on Shimmerz awhile ago, you can check it out here. Don't forget to check out the other DT blogs for more lovely stitched creations!

AJ Otto
Card Deets:
Stamps - Birthday Cupcakes, Birthday Basics
Paper - Cool caribbean, Urban Prairie DP
Accessories - Shimmerz Gold and Wintergreen, copic markers, primas, buttons, SU scalloped border punch, oval nesties, aquapainter for Shimmerz

Birds Galore

Hi everyone, did you all have a good Christmas? Oh, Santa was kind to me! I have some wonderful new stamping stuff to play with and I just COULDN'T wait to get started. This card is for today's SCS Limited Supplies challenge -to make a NON-Christmas card and not to use traditional Christmas colors.

So, I used Taylor's Cupcake sketch and made a birthday card. Almost all of my goodies are from Jacksonbelle Embellishments Store -yummo! The image is from Inkadinkado's Birds Galore and the DP is Memory Box Sprout (love love love this paper -delish purples and greens with lovely delicate patterns!). I embossed the bird with white EP and then colored in the bottom details with a copic marker. I then lightly colored over the bottom with some sage green chalk. The corners of the image panel are small white rub-ons from Basic Grey Wholy Cow and I added some white dots with a gel pen.

The flowers are from Prima hydragea white can and lightly sponged with pale plum and Spring Moss ink, painted with Angel Wings Shimmerz, and then I added a green sparkly brad from the Imaginisce Hallowhimsy pack. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, Birthday Basics and is also embossed in white. The white satin ribbon, irridescent edged ribbon and Shimmerz are all from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts.

Here is a pic Taylor's sketch! You can play along here.

Card Deets:
Stamps - birds galore, birthday basics
Ink - versamark, PTI spring moss and pale plum (for sponging)
Paper - PTI spring moss, white, Memory Box Sprout DP
Accessories - White embossing powder, glitter brads, Martha Stewart branch punch, Prima hydrangeas, rub-ons, organdy and satin ribbon

TECC43 Single Poinsettia

After a day of errands, I had time to stamp! I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge sketch and came up with this card. I used Verve's newly released Christmas Poinsettia - man it is so beautiful. I colored it with prismacolor pencils and gamsol (I don't have any Copics that match Cranberry Crisp!). For the center, I used a combination of pink and Christmas red stickles. BUT, my son put his arm on the image when the stickles were wet, hence the dew drop in the center!! I cut out the poinsettia and put it on dimensionals.
The DP is Basic Grey Figgy Pudding and the dew drops are from the Island Blossom bottle. I dragged the edges of the white panels in Cranberry Crisp and Artichoke ink to lessen the brightness. I really wanted to do something else to this, I don't know, maybe some piercing, but after fussing around with it for about an hour I settled on the tafetta ribbon.

Card Deets:
Stamps - Christmas Poinsettia
Paper - cranberry crisp, chocolate chip, white, Figgy Pudding
Accessories - dew drops, stickles, chocolate tafetta ribbon, circle nesties

A Verve Plain Jane peeky

In addition to the 6 new Verve stamp sets being released, Julee has also released 3 Plain Janes. As usual, the 3 Julee selected are amazing. For more release info, check out this release thread in the Verve forum on SCS.
For this card, I used Taylor's Cupcake sketch #41. The designer paper is Creative Memories, Bountiful. I just love the calming colors it offers. Quite lovely pairing it with this stamp. The flowers are Prima from the Artful Collage Flowers tube. The pearls are from Kaiser Scrapbook pearl packs in Latte. I bought mine at my LSS, but they are sold online at Flourishes. I love the simple elegance of this card, this is going to a good friend of mine who is dealing with some medical issues.

Card deets:
Stamps - Proverbs 3:5
Paper - Blue bayou, so saffron, very vanilla, Bountiful DP
Accessories - primas, pearls, organdy and grosgrain ribbon, MS branch punch, SU scallop edge punch, SU boho blossoms punch

Taylors Cupcake sketch

Ahhh, it's Friday and that means the start of all the weekend challenges! This card is for Taylor's Cupcake Sketch 40. I used one of my Crafty Secrets Cotton Scraps. I am new to these, but I love their texture! I chose to glue it on, but for those of you who sew you could sew these on and it would look lovely.
The bottom BG panel is scored every 1/4" with my Fiskars trimmer using the scoring blade. The top BG panel was embossed with the swiss dots folder. Each layer is framed with gold cardstock -I love this stuff, it is retired from Creative Memories. The scalloped circle was cut with my flowers CB die cut and I used Riveting for the sentiment. I didn't like the Christmas tree that came on the stamp, so I stamped a tiny flourish from my Crafty Secrets Rosy Wishes set. The striped organdy ribbon and brads from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts.

Card Deets:
Stamps - Riveting, Rosy Wishes
Paper - Artichoke, choc chip, gold, vintage cream from PTI, misc SU DP
Accessories - gold brads, ribbon, circle punches, swiss dots, flowers die cut

Lots of challenge cards to share -part 1

I haven't been feeling well all week, so I haven't posted any of the challenge cards I have made. This is part 1 of 2 posts showing them. All my cards are double challenge cards. Do you do that too? With soooo many great challenges out there and so little stamping time. What's a girl to do? LOL!
This first card uses this week's Cupcake sketch challenge on Taylor's blog and is for my Double Dog Dare challenge. The DDC challenge this week came from my very own Dirty Girl roomie, Joan Ervin (who has her own blog now! Check it out HERE). She challenged us to use treats on our card. Any kind of sweet treats. I used Christmas treats with the retired SU set Holiday Sampler and the new DP called Ski Slope.
This next card is for Julee's Mojo Monday sketch and SCS color challenge. This week the colors were *gasp* pixie pink, tangering tango and old olive. I wasn't as skerd of these colors as some, cause I use pink and oranges all the time! I was totally inspired to have some white space with this layout from Julee's sample. Isn't it lovely? Anyway, the card uses Verve's Floral Whimsy set for the flowers and butterflies and Verve's Birthday Surprise for the sentiment. The vase was pieced with a piece of Tangering DSP. The pink bling is from the pink Kaiser scrapbook gem pack.

DDC card deets:
Stamps - holiday sampler, warm words
Paper - ridinghood red, white, baja breeze, ski slope DP
Accessories - red taffeta, circle nesties, tiny red bling

Mojo card deets:
Stamps - floral whimsy, birthday surprise
Paper - olive, pixie pink, tangerine, white, olive and tangerine DSP
Accessories - pink bling, circle punches, ribbon

Season's Tweetings

This Elzy image is just the cutest!! The stamp is A Winter Song and makes me smile everytime I see her!! I used my prismacolor pencils to color her, some liquid applique on her coat trim and stickles on the snow. The GORGEOUS DP is Basic Grey Wassail - oh, I love this as much as last year's Figgy Pudding. I ran the top portion thru the snowflake embossing folder. I really love this folder and just may have to use it on all my Christmas cards! The 3 snowflakes are from my mini snowflake punch from Marvy and the dew drops are from the Lily Pad bottle.

The sketch is from last week's Cupcake sketch from Taylor. I know, I am a week behind, but better late than never, right?!?
Oh, and I have GREAT Elzy news!! In celebration of Elzy's 5th birthday, Elizabeth is offering FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING for all orders through Sunday. Happy shopping!!
Card Deets:
Stamps - A Winter Song
Paper - Ridinghood red, mellow moss, wassail
Accessories - prismacolor pencils, snowflake EF, dew drops, snowflake punch, taffeta ribbon, dew drops

Cupcake sketch with a little Gina

For Taylor's Cupcake sketch this week (TECC37), I decided to make a Christmas card. I am waaay behind this year and I gotta start stocking up. So pretty much all my challenge cards from now until December should be Christmas! LOL!
Can I just say that I FELL in love with the Christmas images that Gina K released this month?!? This tree image is from The Magic of Christmas set and is colored with copic markers. The sentiment is from SU! So Many Sayings and is embossed with white EP. I used some scraps of the SU! retired Christmas DP Wintergreen. I really like this sketch, it allows you to use up those scraps you been hanging on to! The background panel was embossed with the snowflake EF and the ribbon is the striped organdy from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts. I used my MS Oak Leaf punch for a bit of texture tucked under the ribbon.

Card Deets:
Stamps - The Magic of Christmas, So many sayings
Paper - Artichoke, celery, sage shadow, white, Wintergreen DP
Accessories - circle nesties, snowflake EF, copic markers, white EP, white brads, ribbon, branch punch, stickles, white gel pen, paper piercer

Today's Cupcake sketch

Happy Friday everyone! Tomorrow I am going to the OR/WA SCS shoebox swap and I am super excited. It's always fun to meet fellow SCS stampers in real life! I went last year and had a blast, I think this year there are 30 of us going. I will take pictures and post next week. In between cutting the supplies for my shoebox (everyone brings enough for 10 cards), I squeezed in time to get this birthday card done for Taylor's sketch.
I used Verve's Cupcake Affair set and the sentiment is from Birthday Surprise. The frosting on the cupcakes are covered in yellow stickles and the center cupcake is on dimensionals. The DP is from Basic Grey's Cupcake 6x6 pack. I took the colors from it. The ribbons and brads are from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts. Isn't the 1/8" organdy the BOMB?!? I love it. So small and versitile -perfect for tiny bows.
Card deets:
Stamps - Cupcake Affair, Birthday Surprise
Paper - PTI Lemon tart, SU! ridinghood red, BG Cupcake
Ink - Adirondack Pitch black, barely banana, copic marker R02
Accessories - Brads in Red Clay, 1/8" organdy in Cinnamon, 1/4" grosgrain in yellow, SU! scallop circle, paper piercer, white gel pen, yellow stickles

Taylor's sketch to the rescue!

-heehee! I needed to make a birthday card for Bill's brother today and was a bit stumped. Taylor's cupcake sketch to the rescue. I know I do a lot of truck cards for masculine birthdays, but hey -they are so perfect. I have a small stash in my PIF and RAK box and they are my 'go to' images for masculine birthday cards.
I was digging into my DP for the card and found the Designer Prints in Blue Bayou and realized I have NEVER used it! So, I chose the argyle pattern for the 4 background squares. I colored the image with my Copic markers -getting better... To make the ribbon a bit more masculine, I put a small piece of Hodgepodge Hardware on it and used some of the brass brads from that are a perfect match. Believe it or not, the brads from my kit are too dark and don't look good with the pieces at all. Those are all discontinued, other embellishments can be found here.

Double Dog Dare with a cat

Heehee! This week's Double Dog Dare challenge is hosted by ME. I challenged the girls with the same challenge as my Meet the Verve Diva challenge... to use up some of the unloved stamping goodies. I just love that challenge, cause we ALL have tons of stamping stuff that we never use. For me, I am most guilty about DP and buttons. LOVE them and sometimes I think I love collecting them rather than use them!!
I was trying to make room for my new SU! DP and ran across some Apple Cider DP, remember that paper? I swear I used it only once in over a year. So, out it came and I was determined to use one of my Elzybells images, cat window . I ended up coloring the cat brown to match the DP, are there brown cats? I am allergic to cats, so I don't pay much attention. I hope this doesn't look too far fetched!! I used my Copic markers again. Man, oh man, it isn't an easy coloring medium for me. But, I spent alot of money on these little guys, so I am determined to make my cards look like Jeanne colored them -LOL! The sentiment is from Verve's Black Tie Birdies set and there is a tiny gem in the center of the flower.

The sketch for the card is from Taylor's Cupcake sketch challenge this week. I like this one, very simple and easy to put together. I don't sew on my cards, so on the vertical panel, I pierced instead. Thanks Taylor for the inspiration!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Cat Window, Black Tie Birdies
Paper - Choc chip, baja breeze, river rock, Apple Cider DP
Accessories - Copic sketch markers, chocolate taffeta ribbon, paper piercer, Kaiser Scrapbook pink gem

Time for cupcakes!!!

I wish I had a real one here right about now. Still totally consumed with my bathroom remodel. The granite guy is supposed to come any minute now!

I just love Taylor's cupcake challenges and wish I could get to them more often. Sadly, I don't own ANY cupcake stamp sets! GASP! I know, all my images are from my wonderful PIF friends or thru WishRAK. I am gonna have to fix that pretty soon...
Anyway, this card uses a House Mouse image -don't know the name as I got it thru WishRAK. It is colored with prismacolorpencils and gamsol. Then, I lightly applied glitter on the icing and candles. Icing and sentiment have Pink Smoothie and the candles have Volare on them. Did I mention I am in love with Art Glitter???
The DP is from an old paper pack from the Dollar Tree and the sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Basics set. The tiny buttons came from a pack at Michael's. Sometimes I buy something small and cheap with my coupon. Never can have enough embellishments hanging around just waiting for the right card!

Card deets:
Stamps – House Mouse, Birthday Basics
Paper - Regal Rose, Barely Banana, DP
Accessories - Volare and Pink Smoothie glitter, scallop and circle punches, large oval punch, tiny buttons, ribbon

My first cupcake challenge

I finally played in Taylor's cupcake sketch challenge -only took me 25 weeks, LOL! I was inspired by this totally cute card from Denise (Peanutbee). I REALLY love this sketch. What fun with all the circles, such a happy sketch!

I used a cupcake image I received thru the PIF Forum, I think it's from Hero Arts. I dug into my "must have", never used Cupcake DP by Basic Grey. I love the soft colors and they match perfectly with PaperTrey Ink's color spring moss, lemon tart, and sweet blush. I did some piercing on offsetting corners and used Bubblegum stickles on the icing. The sentiment is from PTI's Birthday Basics and stamped with Spring Moss. Both the image panel and one of the top circles are on dimensionals.

Thanks for the fun sketch Taylor! I hope to play more often.

Card Deets:
Stamps – Birthday Basics, Cupcake by Hero Arts

Paper - lemon tart, spring moss, sweet blush, Cupcake by Basic Grey
Accessories - bubblegum stickles, paper piercer, hole punches, yellow striped grosgrain from Michael's
