Verve Project Parade time!

Hi everyone!  As some of you may know, over on the Verve blog it's Project Parade time!  This month's theme is Something Old, Something New-which is to use one of the older Verve sets and one from the new release.  I actually need some wedding cards, so this was a perfectly named challenge for me!  I love the idea of the Divas showcasing some of the older sets this month -like most of you, my older sets are sadly neglected.

My card today uses the set, Love's Flower (released in Jan 2010) and the current release set, Love Story.  I stamped the branch blossom image from Love's Flower with Crumb Cake ink down the left side of the card front and lightly colored them in with the R11 ( Pale Cherry Pink) copic marker.  I then stamped the tiny flower with Pink Pirouette ink and added a touch of white gel pen to the centers.  The flourish heart is also stamped with Crumb Cake ink and colored in with copic markers.

The pearl flourish is from Zva Creative.  I used my favorite trick and cut off the last pearl of the flourish and replaced it with a colored one!

Do you want to play along?  Here's all the details about how you can AND win some VERVE:

1. Play along with us and link up your new SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creation (posted August 25th or later) to the linky widget on the DAY 1 PARADE POST before midnight on Wednesday, September 15th. One lucky stamper will win a $30.00 gift certificate to the Verve Store.

2. For another chance to win, be sure to give the Divas a little shout-out in the comments section as we parade our SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW creations -on the Verve Blog. One lucky commenter during the course of the parade will win the Verve stamp set of their choosing!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Dare to Get Dirty, no NOT with my kitchen remodel...

Hi everyone!  Today I finally have a card to share!  Yippeee!!  Man, it felt really good to sit down and make a card.  I was a bit scared I had forgotten how since it's been so long -LOL!

It's Dare to Get Dirty Week at Splitcoaststampers! If you're a Fan Club Member this is your chance to play along with Dirty Girls, past and present, in a ton of fun challenges. If you're not a Fan Club Member, this is the perfect time to become one! You can get all the info on the Splitcoaststampers Fan Club Page.... We'd love to have you play with us this week! There are 33 challenges to choose from - play one or play them all!

My card is a sample card for the challenge hosted by current Dirty Girl extraordinaire, Edna and you can find the challenge details on this thread.  My card uses the new super fun striped ribbon from Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.  It's pretty wide (2"), but it's a light thin ribbon and that makes it easy to work with.  I tied the ribbon with some silver cord and added a Prima flower.  The sentiment is from Verve's Starstruck set.  I thought the sentiment was perfect for me right now.

Kitchen remodel Day 19:   Let's see... yesterday I primed and painted the ceiling, man that was hard on my neck, but otherwise it went pretty well.  Today I will do all the touch ups.
-I have my shoe and crown molding ordered and it was put on a RUSH basis.  We'll see when that comes in.  I won't show my "after" pictures until it does, so fingers crossed it won't be 5 weeks!!
-UGH, there is a huge delay on my countertops and looks like I won't get them installed (ALONG WITH THE  SINK) until next Wednesday.  Sigh... this is getting old!
-Bill installed my ceiling light fixtures and they look fabulous!  I bought them off of EBay, so I was a bit nervous how they would turn out, but I love them.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow for another DTGD challenge card -yep, cards 2 days in a row!!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Starstruck
Ink - Chocolate Chip
Cardstock - kraft, chocolate chip and white
Accessories - 2" pink/white striped ribbon, silver cord, dotted scallop border punch, Prima flower, silver pearls, score-pal

Verve's Project Parade -Sizzlin' Summer Fun

Hi everyone!  It's Project Parade time!  I posted my project on the Verve Blog yesterday.  Be sure to head on over there to check out all the amazing projects the Divas have made!  Leave some love and have a chance to win some Verve-alicious prizes!!

My project is a Summer Birthday project.  There is a little girl who lives down the block.  She is HAPPY, FUN, BRIGHT and a JOY to be around.  She loves COLOR and CANDY!  I made this card and candy bag ensemble for her.  Her birthday is in June and I know she will love it.

The card is made with the Happy Days set.  I stamped the circle wave in green, cut it out and popped it up on my circle panel.  I colored the hibiscus flowers with my copics in bright pinks to match the AMAZINGLY bright Cosmo Cricket DeLovely paper!  I added some tiny rhinestones and some silver cord for accents, but for the most part, I let the stamps and paper be the focus.

My tag also uses the Happy Days set.  She is always walking around with sunglasses announcing that she is COOL (she's only 5!).  I declare this stamp set was made for her!!  I decorated the tag with scraps left over from the card.  I love how just a tiny bit of paper at the bottom can make such a difference! P.S.  Aren't the Laffy Taffy candies a PERFECT match for the Cosmo papers?  Happy sigh...

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

My Verve Project Parade day

Hi everyone, it's my day to post a project on the Verve Blog!!! Head on over there to check out the full project. As with each month, there are lots of chances to win Verve-y goodness!!

Here is a sneaky peeky look at part of my project...
How cute is this?!? The pattern paper is December Details from Bella Blvd -specifically the Grumpy Grinch and Candy Cane Lane papers. Seriously, I love this paper! It's fun, whimsical and BRIGHT Christmassy colors! You probably recognize that cute tree by now? It's from Christmas in the Air and it just BEGS to be paper pieced! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back on Friday. I am in a super fun Artful Inkables NEW MOON/TWILIGHT blog hop in celebration of the New Moon release!! You know, I haven't talked much about the release of the movie. You all know about my Robward obsession (sidebar!) and that I am a Twi-hard Mom, but sadly I can't go to the movie premiere this week. GASP! I won't have a chance to see it until Tuesday **sob**. BUT the fact that I have been watching EVERY single interview this week with KStew, RPatz and TayTay has made up for it!! sigh....

Verve's project parade and 2 sketch cards

Hi everyone! I have a couple cards to share with you today. AND Saturday is my day to post my Project Parade card over on the Verve blog. This month's theme is Encouraging Words which is quite fitting to many of Verve's stamp sets.

Here is a peek at my project, you'll have to check out the blog (it will be posted in a couple hours) to see the whole card and be sure to comment for a chance to win a Verve stamp set!

Lately, I haven't had time to play along with SCS sketch challenges, but this week's sketch SC249 stopped me in my tracks! I LOVE it! In fact, I made 2 cards!!

This first one is very soft and pretty. I used I used one of my oldie but goodie Verve sets, Floral Whimsy and the sentiment is from Enjoy. The DSP is the retired SU! Pink Pirouette and pieced the vase from the retired Bella Rose.

I added some buttons with silver cord and silver pearls for the finishing touches. I found the silver pearls at Michaels, they are made by Michaels, Inc.

This next card also uses the SC249 sketch and is very different for me and lots of fun to make! I busted out my Crafty Secrets folder I have that I keep my Cotton Scraps, Stickers and Cuts. I REALLY need to use these more often (I need to channel Sharon-LOL) as they are lovely images and no coloring involved. This card uses the Autumn Blessings Vintage Cuts. It comes in the shape of a tag with a blank spot for the sentiment.

I stamped my sentiment on and set it aside. Then, on the disaster area that is my desk, it SMEARED! Warning - Vintage cuts are slightly glossy. UGH! So, I held my tag up to the window and traced the shape onto a piece of cream cardstock and made one of my own. Not as perfect as I would like, but I think it turned out fine. The colors in the tag image screamed for my Basic Grey Ambrosia pad. The rich reds/oranges and deep yellows were PERFECT! I used some Martha Stewart seam binding ribbon in Yellow Dahlia (one of my awesome $1 finds at Big Lots) and gold pearls from Michael's.

Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow for another wonderful Cupcake Inspiration challenge!

Card deets:
Stamps: Floral Whimsy, Enjoy (Verve)
Paper: white, sweet blush, kiwi kiss, SU DSP
Ink: kiwi kiss, pink pirouette
Accessories: buttons, silver cord, silver pearls, SU! scallop border punch, paper piercer, mini butterfly punch, White grosgrain ribbon

Card Deets:
Stamps: Many Sentiments (Flourishes)
Paper: White (PTI), Ambrosia (Basic Grey)
Ink: black
Accessories: Autumn Blessings Vintage Cuts, yellow stickles, gold cord, gold pearls, edge distresser, upper crest border punch, Swiss dots cuttlebug folder, paper piercer, SU corner punch, Martha Stewart seam binding

P.S. I get questions all the time about the gold and silver pearls I use. So I took a picture of the front and back of the package so you all can see what they look like. As you can see, they are not a name brand, but rather made by Michael's Inc.

Verve Project Parade and a CPS sketch with some sunshine

Hi everyone! It's my day to post my project on the Verve Blog. In case you haven't hopped on over there, the theme this month is "It's a Girl Thing: Celebrating the Women in our Lives". Here is a tiny peek at my project. You will have to go on over to see the whole thing!! If you play along, there are 2 chances to win some Verve bucks!!

Next up, I have a card for this week's CPS114 challenge sponsored this week by Sweet and Sassy Stamps. I also played along with Sharon's SSnotime85 challenge -to use yellow and let the sun shine in!! We have been having NON-stop rain over here in Oregon for days and I guess I needed a bit of bright colors!

This card uses pp from DCWV the Citrus pack. Man, I love all the colors and patterns in this pack. Actually, now that I am posting this, I see that it kinda coordinates with the bright colors with my Verve Project Parade... humm, I guess I really was needing some BRIGHT fun around me!!

The image and sentiment used on this card are from Repeat Impressions, the image is called Sunflower. I just love this delicate image -it made me smile the entire time I was making this. The sentiment tag was made using the double ended tag nestie, I just "skootched" the paper before the second hole, so the die only cut one end. I took my SU turquoise marker to the "stitching" on the Top Note piece. Some little primas and blue bling finish off the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Sunflower, Thank you (Repeat Impressions)
Paper - white, tempting turquoise, Citrus matstack (DCWV)
Accessories - circle nesties, Top note die, turquoise marker, double ended tag nestie), Got flowers deux primas, turquoise bling, copic markers and stickles

Verve project parade day and a Verve round up

Today is my day to post my Kid at Heart project on Verve's blog. Here is a close up teeser picture, you will have to hop on over to the blog for the others and the details of my card!!

At the end of the month, I like to show all the Verve release cards that I didn't have time to post on my blog. Sort of a monthly round up if you will. I have 4 cards to share.

This first card uses the Hearts on Fire set. I stamped the image with Versamark ink and embossed it with chocolate brown embossing powder -there are pink gems accenting the swirls and embossed corners. The DP is Basic Grey Two Scoops and the ribbon is SU! Chocolate tafetta ribbon. Here is a picture of the inside:

This next card uses the Jeremiah 29:11 set. I used some Basic Grey Perphery paper and lots of primas, brads and buttons!!

This card uses the Meditations set. I really struggled with this card, not because of the set (it's GORGEOUS), it's just that I couldn't get it to turn out how I envisioned it in my head. So, I ended up doing some simple scoring at the top and bottom. And using Basic Grey Eva DP. The stamped images are colored with Copic markers and have Coal Shimmerz on them. They look a little silvery or something, but IRL, it's just sparkly. I added the black and green pearls for the finishing touch.

Lastly, this card uses this release's Plain Jane stamp called Comfort. I love this stamp. I get asked to make sympathy cards more than any other kind and this stamp works for almost any sympathy occasion. I used some of my FAV Memory Box DP called Sprout and my new Labels One nesties!! Some layered Grey tafetta/lavendar organdy ribbons and purple bling added the finishing touches.

I often get asked where I buy/get my Basic Grey DP. I almost always buy the 6x6 paper pads as they have the designs scaled to cardmaker size. I get some from my LSS, Craft Warehouse, but I get the majority of it online at Jacksonbelle Embellishments. Thanks for stopping by! I will be back later to post today's sketch challenge card!

It's Verve Project Parade time!

Yep, it's that time again. This month's Verve Project Parade is on Day Four and it's my turn to show you my card. The challenge this month is to "Get Krafty". Meaning, use kraft paper on your card, or any natural fiber like hemp, twine, string, etc.

For my card, I used kraft as my base and some framing and paired it with my new favorite color, Tangerine Tango! I used Black Tie Birdies and stamped everything with Adirondack Espresso. I also stamped the bird on Tangerine and pieced the wing and bow. For the horizonal piece behind the image, I stamped the finial strip from the Grateful Elegance. The DP is the new SU! Designer Prints DP in Tangerine (P.S. I love the new designs SU! came out with). The flower is from my amazing find at Michaels, a Got Flowers bottle Coppermine, an entire bottle of various brown flowers. Whoa, be still my little heart. The ribbon is Seam Binding ribbon from Martha Stewart in Persimmon and is a PERFECT match to Tangerine Tango -score!! I also put tiny accents of orange on her tail from my Copic marker YR09.

So.... have you been gettin' krafty? No? How about using natural fibers like hemp, twine, string, etc? Still no? Well there is still time to play along. Just post your creation to this post by noon on September 30th. If you upload to SCS use keyword VVPP06 , so we can see all the Kraftiness in one place. A random participant will be drawn on October 1st to receive $15 in Verve Bucks to spend at the Verve Stamps store! Good luck and go get Krafty!

Card Deets:
Stamps - Black Tie Birdies and Grateful Elegance (Verve Stamps)
Paper - PTI Kraft and white, Choc chip, Tangerine Tango and Tangerine Tango DP (SU!)
Ink - Adirondack Espresso
Accessories - prima, jumbo orange brad, paper piercer, MS Persimmon seam tape, paper piercer, Copic YR09, dimensionals

Verve's August Project Parade

So have you all seen this month's Project Parade inspiration photo and following along with the team's creations? Just full of yummy deliciousness I tell you!! I am a little late in getting this posted (haven't been feeling well this week), but there is still time to play along.

This month it's a pink and brown color challenge. Just upload your creation to this post on Verve Stamp's blog no later than noon on September 5th (yep, that's tomorrow!). If you upload to SCS, use keyword VVPP05 so we can see all the delicious creations together. A random player will be drawn on September 5 and will receive $15 in Verve Bucks.

Here is the card I made for the challenge. I chose to use the Floral Whimsy set. The base is chocolate chip with the next layer close to cocoa. To make the embossed lines on the bottom portion of the cocoa panel, I used my Fiskars trimmer with the score blade. I scored a line, then moved it 1/4" and repeated the entire way across. I don't have a Score-Pal, but this worked just fine! The white panel uses the Swiss Dots CB embossing folder. I dove into my yummy pink and brown Basic Grey Sultry 6x6 pack for the background panel and pieced the vase with it as well.

Card Deets:
Stamps: Floral Whimsy (Verve Stamps)
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White (SU!), Sultry DP (Basic Grey)
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Swiss Dots folder, Treading Water punch, pink gems (Joanns), pink 1/4" grosgrain (SU!), Oval Nesties, dimensionals
