Gettin' Dirty!

Yep! The Dare to Get Dirty challenges are still in effect! Have you all been playing along? Friday, yesterday and today every hour a new challenge is posted hosted by a Dirty Girl! You need to be a SplitcoastStamper Fan Club member to see the challenge threads, you can find all the FC details here.

I have several challenge cards to share. First up, another bright and cheery Get Well Soon card. I played in Becca's challenge -to use dies or punches, AND this week's today's Ways to use it challenge -to use charms, AND last week's week's Fall to layout 51 for the sketch. -Whew -a triple challenge card.

I used some of my DCWV citrus paper for the colors. I think get well cards should be bright and cheery!! I covered some chipboard for the corner. I made the flower embellishment with my Blossom nestabilities. The button and cord are from PHH.

Next I have another triple challenge card. Cindy's sketch, Lauraly's ribbon and Bonnie's wings challenges!! Here is a link to the master challenge thread where you can find all three.

The texture cardstock is DCWV metallic matstack in copper, the pattern paper is Basic Grey Cupcake, the Oregon Raindrops are the Denim bottle from PHH, and the lovely angels image is from Crafty Secrets their Fairy Enchanting stickers!

And last I have a card for Cindy Haffner's sketch challenge. I can't get enough of these sketches, and there was another posted today that I am dying to use!! The DP is SU! designer print series and the circle chipboard piece is from Basic Grey's Lemonade Chipboard stickers (yep, still using these). Some silver pearls from Michael's in the bottom corner -soooo love them!!

It's the 15th again...

That means we say hello to 2 new Dirty Girls and say good-bye to 2 girls. This month welcomes Carolina (craftycaro) and Jennie (elliesmom)!! Congrats girls! This month's theme is Art for Every Woman, how wonderful! So be sure to hop on over there and check out the lovely creations and give all the girls some love. They work hard and stress over each and every project they make for the DD gallery, trust me every comment is treasured!

Today I will share a couple of my favorite projects from my second month as a Dirty Girl (June 2008). The theme that month was Fashion Follies. I was a bit skeeeerd when I first saw this theme -I mean fashion oriented cards? Eek, that was a first for me. But as the month progressed, I came up with several ideas that fit right in. Note that all the links I have are to the Fan Club forum of SCS and you need to be a member to access them. If you are not already a FC member, you can click here for the details.

This first card was a wedding card, you can see more details in my original SCS post . Nothing says fashion to a girl more than her wedding dress, right!? The image and sentiment are from Inkadinkado Wedding and is stamped on Shimmer White cardstock. The pearl hearts and silver cord are from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts . The Sky paper is also shimmer and is embossed with the Swiss Dots folder.

This next card is one of my all time favorites! I still have it displayed on my stamping shelf. It just makes me smile. You can find more details in my original SCS post. The amazing lady silhouettes are actually from a FABULOUS piece of DP I found at Joann's. I fell in love with the Audry Hepburn feel to it.

This card is 5x7 and has a couple of the flowers from SU! Fabulous Flowers embossed with black and cut out. The black striped organdy ribbon is from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts and the primas are from the Daisy Forever Flowers jar in Copper. Each lady is framed with a tiny bit of Barely Banana and black. The sentiments are from Technique Tuesday Words We Love set.

The last card is the MIM card from the MIM/LIM category of each month. You can find more details in my original SCS post. I got this amazing image from my friend Stacy (JBGreendawn). It's called Feminine Form by Impression Obsession. I made this card 5"x7" to accomodate the size of the image. The blush BG panel is stamped with French Script and sponged in pink. The corner accents are in Artichoke, and the DP and rose has touches of stickles on it. I colored the image with prismacolor pencils and the frame is outlined in the silver glitter pen. 5/8" organdy and silver cord are from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Friday!

One year ago today...

...I got a PM from Jenn Balcer of SCS asking me to be on the SCS Dirty Dozen design team! To say I was in shock was a total understatement. The Dirty Dozen designers were my stamping idols and I couldn't believe Jenn thought I belonged among them! My "reveal" was on May 15th and my final gallery contribution was November 15th. What an amazing experience those 6 months were and I can hardly believe a year has passed! Thank you Jenn for having the confidence in me! My Dirty Dozen "roomie" (meaning the gal entering the DD with me) is the incomparable Joan Ervin! What a pleasure getting to know this amazing and talented lady -hugs to ya Roomie!

So, to honor my time with the Dirty Dozen, I thought on the 15th for the next 6 months, I would share with you a couple cards from each monthly theme. These first cards are from my first month as a Dirty Girl. The theme was "This One's For the Boys" -what a perfect first month theme for me! I love making masculine cards!! Please note, you need to be a SCS Fan Club member to access these links. If you aren't a fan club member, you can check out the deets here.

This first card is for the boy all grown up! Boys and their toys, right?!? This motorcycle image is from an unknown unmounted stamp I bought from Ebay. The DP is a carefully trimmed piece of SU! Wanted. I wanted to use the corner star to match up with my punched out stars. The sentiment is from a Harley Davidson sticker pack.

Each month I tried to do a 3-d project of some kind (which was a challenge -I am a card-only kinda girl!). This month I did a picture frame for my Aunt. Some of you know that my cousin is in the Army stationed in Afghanistan back then (and still is!).

I painted the frame with dark brown acrylic paint, then covered the bottom portion with mod podge. I cut up my camouflage DP and pasted it on. I then covered the edges, both outside and inside with twill ribbon (to hide the uneveness). The silver metal rings say integrity and discipline respectively, and I tucked them onto the twill ribbon knot. The eagle image is from The Free and The Brave set and is colored with prismacolor pencils then sponged with distressed ink. Some of the stars are stamped tone on tone with the Sanded BG. That handsome soldier is my cousin, and I am pretty sure he would die of embarrassment if he knew it was in this picture and I was showing it AGAIN!

The 15th of every month we say welcome in 2 new designers to the Dirty Dozen and say goodbye to 2. This month the theme is Going Green and be sure to welcome Heather (inglishrea) and Bonnie (Eggette) be sure to stop by and give the gallery and the new girls some love!

Card deets (motorcycle):
Stamps: unknown motorcycle
Paper: black, sahara sand, basic gray, really rust, whisper white, Wanted

It's the 15th ya'll...

You know what that means!!

The Dirty Dozen Fan Club Gallery reveal and our 2 new Dirty Girls!!

Give a big welcome to Lisa Zappa (Lzappa) and Jessie Rone (knightrone)!!! Oh, these ladies are a perfect addition to the Dirty Dozen. Well each month, 2 come in and 2 come out. This month is the last month for me and Joan (Joan Ervin). We had a super time and hope we honored you all with our creations!!

The theme this month is a fun one, from the SCS welcome page, "the Dirty Dozen went through their playlists and stacks of stamps and created For a Song, a gallery full of cards and projects inspired by music from rockin' AC/DC (that was mine!!) to gentle Brahms lullabies. No matter your taste in tunes, you're sure to find something you like." You have to be a Fan Club member to access the gallery. You can find more info here.

Mojo Monday and 2 new Dirty Girls!! It's the 15th ya'll!

It's the 15th and you all know what that means... the September Fan Club Gallery is open!! The two new Dirty Girls are...

-Jennifer Buck (JenniB04)
-Mary Jo Albright

Yahoo! Congrats ladies, you are both so talented and very "dirt worthy". Be sure to check out the gallery here. This month's theme is Colors of the Rainbow and each of us girls got a color to play with. Mine was BLUE and it was so much fun. If you don't already have a fan club membership, you can look into it here.

Today is also Monday and that means another Mojo Monday sketch from Julee! I used the newly released Birthday Surprise set. I busted out my East Coast Prep DP from SU! and went to work with this cute little bird and balloons. I stamped everything in black Stazon and colored them all with markers. I added some bling to the bird hat and tail as well as the balloon bow. The balloons have glitter pen all over them for shine. I was going to use Crystal Effects, but when that dries, it changes the color a bit and I wanted the balloons to remain vibrant.

Card Deets:
Stamps - Birthday Surprise
Paper - real red, tempting turqouise, east coast prep DP
Ink - Black stazon
Accessories - mini bling, paper piercer, circle maker, dimensionals, red taffeta ribbon, sakura gelly roll glitter pen
