Whimsical cakes make me happy

Hi everyone!!  I have another sketch challenge card to share.  This one uses the January Sketch For You to Try.  Jen always has such great sketches, I hope to play along more this year!

My card uses the new Topsy Turvy Cakes set.  I LOVE the whimsical cakes and extra doodads in this set -they're just my style!  It is a departure from JustRite's normal stamp sets and I am lovin' it!!  The fun paper is from MME "Everyday Flair" Six by Six collection.  See how I stamped the matching little flower at the bottom of the long panel?  Cute!!

Hippity Hop Monday

Hi everyone!  It's Monday and I had a chance to play along with the H{ippity} Hop!!  It's been a busy month with Verve having 2 releases -the Fall collection just released and Christmas is in a couple weeks.  But, I took some time to play with one of my old Ippity Stamp sets, Life's Little Moments.  This set was from the first release and although geared towards scrapbooking, has lots of images that are perfect for cards!

My card uses Jen's Sketch for you To Try and some paper and goodies from K&Company, the Olivia Rose collection!  This collection has a totally fun and whimsical feeling to it and Ippity was a perfect match!  AND...see that strip of daisy flowers?  Yep -my new toy!  A jumbo border punch called Garden Flower Chain from EK Success.  This is really cool, I have never had a punch that punched both sides before and I love it!!

Some buttons, a prima and a glittered heart... happy sigh

Hi everyone!  While I was cruisin' around my Craft Warehouse the other day, I literally stopped in my tracks at the GORGEOUS Prima flowers (Camelot Roses Gwenlyn)!  Wha...?!?  SOOO pretty!

These inspired me to pull out my Webster's Pages Postcards from Paris, that I got from the Stamp Simply Store.  Sharon is out of this paper now, but she has some wonderful Graphic 45 papers that have the same vintage-y feel!

My card follows Jen's Sketch For You to Try.  I loved that 3rd panel on the sketch, I just HAD to use some of the fabulous chocolate Velvet ribbon that I have been hoarding.  It was almost painful to cut into that loveliness!!  Even MORE so because I messed up my first piece -  SOB!  The glittered chipboard heart is by Melissa Frances and the wonderful sentiment is from Verve's So Happy set - this set is an oldie, but goodie!!

Some challenge cards and one just for fun!

Hi everyone! I have a three challenge cards to share and a card I DID JUST FOR FUN! Remember when we used to have time to do that? Pfft! Now with Daniel in Kindergarten, my "stamping just for fun" time has pretty much gone out the window -LOL!

First up is my card for this week's SCS Featured Stamper challenge who happened to be RACHEL (aka RachelHope13)!! Of course you all know Rach is my BFF AND a wonderful stamper! I chose her cutie fun tree button card to case. I changed the pattern paper to a piece of Cosmo Cricket, Nutmeg 6x6 pad. I also added some scoring at the bottom and added a tag. All the buttons and burlap string are from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts. 

 

This next card is for SCS Sketch challenge #252 (are we really up to 252?)!! I like this sketch altho it was a bit tricky chosing the pattern papers to go with the holly leaves and buttons. I used PTI's Holiday Button Bits for this card and the Pattern paper is Cosmo Cricket Jolly by Golly. The buttons are from the Fuchsia Collection, they are a perfect match to Raspberry Fizz!!

This Christmas card is for Jen's Sketch For you to Try challenge. I don't get to Jen's sketches very often, but I just love them and bring them out every week! This one REALLY caught my eye and I had to make time. So I busted out my Verve set, O Christmas Tree and My Mind's Eye, Merry Days of Christmas. The sentiment is from last year's Ornamental Christmas.

Next up is my Just for Fun card! No challenge, no deadline, I was digging thru my stamp stash and found this cutie $1 Studio G stamp. I bought it ages ago and never used it. I used some Basic Grey, Lemonade scraps and some Creative Cafe felt flowers from my LSS. Man, looking at this photo, I need to edit it again. It looks so dark... anyway, I love this little birdie! The challenge card that wasn't!

Today's Jacksonbelle Embellishment Tuesday challenge was Anything But... to make a card that is anything but a rectangle.

Well, as you can see my card isn't square like it was supposed to be! Maybe if you open your eyes really wide while looking at it, it may appear slightly stretched... no? Unfortunately, my card the result of being distracted by the kiddos THREE times while making it. Let's see, first we had a fight in the garage over the tricycles resulting in a split lip. Then we had a bathroom disaster (I'll spare you the details), I don't even remember what the last thing was, I just remember being very worn out and confused at the end of it all!

But, alas a card was made! My sister asked me to make a motorcycle birthday card for her friend. I used a motorcycle image I bought off EBay a long time ago. All the DP is by Fancy Pants, About a Boy, and I finally used a transparency! It is also from Fancy Pants and is called Fresh and Funky and is on sale right now for $1.30!!

I have always been SKERD to use these little buggars, but thought I would give it a try. They are not that bad. I lined up what I wanted to show over the motorcycle (in this case the little stars) and carefully trimmed (I used my regular paper cutter). I attached it with glue dots and then covered them up with the Dew Drops, from the Men's Bottle. I used a tiny piece from the scraps for the tag too! The sentiment is by Repeat Impressions and the fabulous burlap string is from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts. I followed Jen's Sketch for You to Try for the layout.

Lots of Verve to share

Hi everyone!! Have you all have a chance to check out the new release from Verve Stamps this month? It was a BIG one -8 new stamp sets and 5 Plain Janes. Julee's largest yet! I have several samples to share with you.

This card uses the Plain Jane, Little Star. Plain Jane stamps are single stamps which are very reasonably priced. I SOOOOO love this stamp. Most of you know I am in a mom's group and I can see this stamp getting LOTS of use!

The card started out with Julee's Mojo77 sketch, but I couldn't make it work so it morphed into this. I love working with star punches, I think they bring so much to a card and the stars on the image are perfection in my book! Also, I am lovin' the Top Note pieces. I don't own that die, so a big thank you to WishRAK!! Here is a peek at the inside.

This card uses the set, Everlasting Life. What an amazing set. Such elegant fonts, designs and sentiments. I just received my big SU order, so I had to bust into the Rasberry Tart DP! LOVE it! I think I am jinxed when it comes to sketches, I tried to use Jen's SFYTT, but it didn't work exactly. But, it came close enough, so I will call it good! The black brads, ribbon and button are from Pinkhedgehog papercrafts.

I couldn't fit the sentiment on the outside, so here is a peek at the inside.

This week the challenge is to use October Afternoon products -stamps, paper or BOTH! My card uses the FAB October Afternoon paper from the Weather Vane line called Sweater Weather. For those of you new to OA paper, it is thick and double sided! I loved the soft blue tones of this paper and paired it with Blue Bayou, Soft Sky and Very Vanilla. The stamp is from Prima -yep, they have stamps too, and is called Giraffe. I colored the image with a couple Copic markers. The sentiment is from Verve Stamps, Family Phrases. After gluing everything down, I took my paper piercer, made 2 holes and then tied some silver cord around his neck. I then tied some more cord around each side of the sentiment panel to balance out the design. The stars were punched out with a combination of the large and small SU! star punches and the mini one is unknown.

This card uses this week's fabulous sketch by Jen, one of her Sketches For You To Try! She posts a great sketch every Saturday!

Believe it or not, I still have 6 Christmas cards to make and send!! Ack! So, today I made another one using Jen's Sketch For You to Try. I love this layout, there are lots of possibilities with the trio of circles at the bottom. :-)

For this card, I used Verve's Snow Wonderful and Snowflake Splendor. I stamped the long background strip in Brilliant Blue on Bashful Blue. I used the little Snowflakes and circle border on each of the circles. The star bling and white satin ribbon came from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts.

A couple of weekend sketches

I love what Laura (Scrapnextras) does each weekend, doing all the blog weekend sketches with the same stamps and papers making a lovely set. Well, I actually had some time this weekend to do the same (well kinda)!! I was able to do 2 of the sketches using Flourishes stamps. Each card has NO designer paper (gasp) -I made my own using Flourishes Damask background stamp. Since I need to stock up on my sympathy/get well cards, this was perfect.

This first card uses Jen's Sketch for you to Try layout. I just love the font of the sentiments in Flourishes Many Sentiments set -so graceful and elegant. The main image is from Flourishes Spring Ephemerals. I inked up the flower with baroque burgundy and colored the stem with my old olive marker. I then painted the 2 blooms with red Shimmerz. The background of the card is Flourishes Damask. I drug the edges of all the panels thru my old olive ink pad to soften them a bit.I used Jen's Sketch For You To Try for the layout. The organdy ribbon is Lemon Yellow and the bling is Mint Green, both are from Flourishes. I took my heat gun for a few seconds on the ribbon bow, I love the crinkly look it gives.

The second card, I used the magnolia flower from the Flourishes Lilac set. I colored the flowers with prismacolor pencils and gamsol. The sentiment is from Technique Tuesday's Simple Sentiments set. The background of the image panel is Flourishes Damask. I drug the edges of all the panels thru my sweet blush ink pad to soften them a bit. I used Beate's Weekend Sketch #67 for the layout. The organdy ribbon is Lemon Yellow from Flourishes. I took my heat gun on this one too.

Elzy challenge day

Today is the day we all post our Elzy challenge cards. This challenge was to use Paper Piercing. This is such a fun technique. I just LOVE piecing Elzy's clothes to match the card. For this card, I used Winter Girl. She is colored with Copic markers, has liquid applique on her trim and the ground and falling snow is stickles. I used some of last years Christmas paper from my stash and followed Jen's Sketch For You To Try. It is hard to see in the picture, but I use one of the Heidi Swapp's acrylic snowflakes. I covered it in stickles so it wasn't too transparent. I used some of my wire to wrap around it for some interest. I bought a HUGE set of colored wire about 2 years ago and never use it. Thought this snowflake would be perfect to bust out that box! LOL! The navy organdy and light blue grosgrain ribbons are from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts.

SOOOOO... I thought as long as I had all the supplies out, I thought I would make another card using the same layout and paper. Only, for this one I used Verve's newly released Ornamental Christmas. Isn't it cool how an identical card using only a different image can be so different? There is such an elegand feel to the ornament card and a fun whimsical feel to the Elzy card.

Crafty Secrets challenge to use punches

Now this is my kinda challenge -LOL! I loooooove my punches!! I made this snowman card using some of my Crafty Secrets Cotton Scraps and followed Jen's Sketch for You to Try. You can play along by going to the Crafty Secrets member company forum in this thread.

The designer paper is My Mind's Eye Christmas line called Frost. Such subtle patterns and wonderful colors. The punches I used are the Martha Stewart snowflake, Marvy mini snowflake and I also used a variety of cuttlebug die cuts. I used to kinds of organdy ribbon and layered them -very hard to see in the picture, but the bottom layer is a 7/8" light brown organdy and the top one is the white dotted kind. Both ribbons and buttons are from Pinkhedgehog Papercrafts. All the snowflakes have lots of stickles on them for the wintery sparkle!

Jen's sketch for You to Try

My boys are outside (in the rain) doing a project with Bill, so I had some extra time today to make another card. Woohoo! I really like Jen's sketch this week. She had a bit of trouble with it, but it went rather quickly for me.

I used some of my new Old Olive Designer Prints DP and paired it with Eggplant and More mustard. The stamp sets I used are Verve's Abundant Blessings and Notes of Prayer. I used my markers on the cat tails image to get both colors. I also used my NEW Martha Stewart Branch punch that Janette gave me. I really like it. I punched out both River rock and Olive cardstock. The primas have a dew drop in the center and have stickles on the petals.

Jen's sketch for a little boy

WooHoo! I had time to play along with Jen's Sketch For You To Try. If you have time, check it out -if you own any Bellas, there is even a chance at a prize!

I had to turn the sketch to accomodate my Elzy image called Boy In Car. The DP is from Luxe Designs, part of their Flip Flop line which is perfect for little boys! I used my Copics again today, I used the colors YR09, C1, B21, E00 and Y15 along with my Going Gray SU marker. I embossed the blue cardstock piece with my Numbers CB folder. The buttons are from my My Mind's Eye, Tres Jolie collection -my LSS had them on sale and I bought 2 of every jar they sold. I just love them :-) The sentiment is from PaperTrey Ink's Birthday Basics, which I still maintain is the BEST birthday sentiment set evah!!

A simple wedding card

This card is simple, yet elegant. I used my current favorite wedding set which is Wedding by Inkadinkado. This week's Sketch For You to Try by Jen, was perfect for this card! I embossed the 3 items (bouquet, dove/heart swirls and cake) in detail white on Very Vanilla and then sponged Soft Sky over it to make it pop.

The DP is specialty wedding paper I found at target and I paired it by some unknown pale blue/silver shimmer cardstock. I used a small pale blue flat backed pearl to accent the 3 squares and sentiment panel. Sorry for the shadows on the picture! The sun is NOT cooperating with my stamping window today.
