Amarylis Christmas collection - 2 card designs

Hi crafty friends! Christmas cards are in full force right now and if you're like me and focusing more on flat card designs (I recently mailed a shaker card and it cost over $5 in postage!). If you are, you need to check out the Festive Poinsettia Press Plate and stencil from the newest collection by Yana Smakula for Spellbinders called Amarylis Christmas!
Yana's new collection features die sets, Glimmer hot foil and BetterPress Plates, layering stencils and a 3D Embossing Folder. Check out what I made and scroll down for a list of all the supplies I used.
FESTIVE POINSETTIA PRESS PLATE AND STENCIL

My cards use the Festive Poinsettia Press Plate colored with the coordinating stencil set. All the stencil layers let you easily create so much depth with. The sentiment is from the Christmas Die and Sentiments Glimmer set. One card uses gold sentiment and accents and the other in silver.
For my first card, I inked the Festive Poinsettia press plate with black ink. The stencil set has 6 layers which creates lots of depth to the image. I used Distress Oxide inks: 3 pinks for the poinsettia, 2 greens and 2 browns (ink list below). I wanted to let the background be the star of the show, so I put the sentiment on a strip of vellum accented with a single piece of metallic cord.
For my second card, I wanted to see how using the same ink combination looked different against a dark vs a light background, so this one was inked with a very pale blue ink. The flower veining was a bit lost once inked with the pinks, so I went over them with a Silver Sakura Gelly Roll pen. Not only did it bring the flowers to life, but it added an extra layer of sparkle!
I think they are both beautiful, but the black background is my favorite. Do you have a favorite?
