Butterfly shaker card

Hi everyone!  I have another shaker card to share today.  This one uses the negative of a butterfly die for the shaker opening and I filled it with some sequins and beads.
First I adhered the patterned paper to my card base and then die cut a square using the Pierced Squares.  Next I die cut a butterfly from the Les Papillions set in the center.  This was the base for my shaker part.  Instead of using an adhesive foam sheet like my last card, I used an adhesive foam frame!  I had them in rectangle form, but I just cut a small piece on either side to make it fit.
To accent my frame, I used a bit of 1/8" gold foil washi tape as a border just inside the piercings.  I love the touches of gold it gave, and it highlighted the few gold sequins that were inside.
The sentiment was die cut from gold mirror cardstock adding even more shiny gold goodness!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great evening!  Here's a close up of the shaker part.

Thank you tudor rose card

Hi everyone!  Today's card uses the newly released Tudor Rose Collection die set.  I love how versatile this die set is.  The flowers can take on many different feels from very regal to these with almost a nautical feel.
I've added a strip of silver foil under the sentiment panel which is hard to photograph and looks black here, but IRL it's shiny and pretty!  The bold sentiment is from Fun Stampers Journey, the Greet and Shout stamp set.
Here's the dies in the Tudor Rose Collection.  Breathtaking!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Here's a close up picture.

Valentines giveaway winner and crafting kits for sale

Hi everyone!  This is a quick post to announce my Valentine's Day giveaway winner and I have some info on some possible crafting kits at the bottom of this post.

Random.org helped me chose #12 as my winner:

Carol H. February 11, 2015 at 12:07 PM
I think your card turned out fantastic! I have that tree die too and you've shown me another way to use it. Thank you for sharing your pretty card & for the chance at the wonderful prize!

Congrats Carol!  Send me an email (listed below and on my sidebar) and let me know your mailing address and I'll get the package out to you asap!

****Question for my readers***
I've decided to downsize my craft supplies and wondered if there was an interest if I packed up Medium Flat Rate boxes and made "crafting kits" from gently used and new supplies.  They would have a price of $35 with the shipping cost of ($12.65) included- PayPal only.  This price would be sending to US residents only, my Canadian friends will have to work out something else.
The boxes would have minimum of 5 6x6 paper pads, min of 5 stamp sets, 2 wooden stamps, 15 yards of ribbons -variety of style and widths, 3 mini baggies of buttons or embellishments, 1 mini spool of washi tape, 1 ink pad, and 10 sheets of premium cardstock (Gina K, Amuse, or Stampin Up)
My stamp sets are primarily from AMuse, Gina K Designs, Unity and JustRite Papercrafts and I can accommodate requests of stamp manufacturer and color family for ribbons and cardstock for the first few responders.
I have enough supplies set aside to make several boxes, if you are interested send me an email at cardsbymichelle@hotmail.com.

****EDITED: I have had quite the response to these crafty boxes!  I am sorting through my supplies and starting a list, so continue to email me and I will add your name.  There should be a few more boxes available.*****

Avery Elle masking challenge

Hi everyone!  I spent some time this week reorganizing my dies (post showing my new storage to come) and while I was doing that, I uncovered a few stamp sets that I bought and have never used!  GASP!  Right?!?  I vowed to get those stamp sets inky and I started with Avery Elle.  So today I played along with the Avery Elle Masking challenge and used my new Petals and Stems stamp set.
Confession time, I really don't do much masking.  I mean I know what it is, but it always confuses me as to WHICH image to hide and I always get it wrong.  So I end up fussy or die cutting my images and call it a day.  But masking was the challenge, so I jumped in.  I took a few pictures to share just in case you get lost like I do :-)
Step 1: Stamp the image onto a post-it note, making sure to stamp a good portion on the sticky part.
Step 2: Cut out the image, this is what you will use to mask your image on your paper
Step 2(b): I stamped some "fiddling" or practice images and cut them out.  This helps me visualize how and where I want them on my card.
Step 3: Stamp the image you will want to APPEAR ON TOP, in my case it was the small flower
Step 4: Cover that image with the post-it note
Step 5: Stamp the second image over the post-it note and that will APPEAR ON THE BOTTOM, in my case it was my large flower.
Now if I was super advanced with my masking skills I would have also masked the stem branches on this, but hey, I know when to call it a day!  lol!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.  Here's a close up picture.
Card Deets:
Stamps - Avery Elle, Petals and Stems
Dies - Spellbinders, (GLC-016) Baby Buntings
Ink - Memento Luxe, Pistachio and Lilac Posies; SU Peach Parfait

PS. There is still time to enter my Valentines Giveaway which is open to everyone!  I will post the winner tomorrow on Valentines Day!

Shaker card and Valentines giveaway

Hi everyone!  Today's card was VERY different for me.  I stepped way outside my box and I am still not sure how I like it, but after 2 days of futzing here it is.  I did some water coloring using water color pencils and Gelatos AND built a mini scene within a shaker card.  Water color and scene building? Who me? Yep!
You should have seen my attempts to water color backgrounds -yeah it was pretty bad. So rather than coloring the entire background, I settled on die cutting water color paper into grass and cloud shapes and water colored those.  This was a more "clean" approach to water coloring and suited my style (and talent level) better.
My card features one of the Die D-Lite dies called Delightful Tree, which I die cut in green, cut the birds in blue, birdhouse in brown and added some hot pink gems for a pop of color.

Thanks to the suggestions of my lovely readers after my last shaker card, I made this shaker card differently and it was easier!  I bought some adhesive backed foam at Michaels and die cut and trimmed it to fit almost the size of my card front.  TIP: when die cutting foam, don't use the regular sandwich with the Grand Calibur, instead use the cutting plate and the pink embossing plate.  Using the regular sandwich compressed the foam to 1/2 the thickness!
I adhered the foam to my card base, "built" the scene inside and filled it with my sequins and beads.  I strategically glued some sequins and leaving the rest loose to shake around.  Next I adhered the acetate paper behind my frame and glued everything down.  Lastly I adhered my tree on top of the window.
Here is a pic of my window before the tree.  You can see which sequins I glued down, the others are behind the grass.

Gerber daisy hello card

Hi everyone! I have a fun card to share today using one of the older shapes, the Curved Rectangles and one of the Create-a-Flower dies, the Gerber Daisy.
With this flower, there are 3 sizes of the petals: large, medium and small.
To make each layer you will need 8 petals.
I wanted my flower more full, so I cut each size two times.  You can see the cuts below.  One good thing about the petal die is there are 2 of each petal size on it, so you will need to run it through 4 times, make sense?
Next you tuck the point of each label into the slot of the "layer forming disc" and then glue it down.
I added some stickles to some of the petals and sentiment and added some chino colored pearls as accents.  I embossed the flower panel with the Graduated Dots folder (I used side A).  This is a cool Grand sized folder, you will notice the dots get smaller in size as you go down.  The reverse side is also cool, check it out.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Here's a close up picture.

With Love

Hi everyone!  I have a Valentines card to share today which also uses some rubons I got in my Simon Says Stamps January kit.  Gotta say, I am lovin' the resurgence of good quality rubons.  Once again - everything old is new again!
I die cut the nesting Classic Heart shapes into my cardstock pieces and layered them together.  To make it really pop, I used a thin pop dot in between each layer and added a rubon heart to the center.  Once again, I used my one favorite flower die sets, Blooms Four (I know, you're probably sick of seeing them all the time) and added a Cut Gem to the centers.
A die cut sentiment and a few more rubons completed the card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Here is a close up picture.
