Woweee, that's me on the cover

Hi everyone!  I am excited to share that I am on the COVER of CardMaker magazine's July issue!  Woohoo!  Those of you who have followed me for awhile may remember that back in March of 2010 I made the cover of CARDS Spring UK version.  But I never was able to get a copy and it just didn't feel real, kwim?  So really this feels like my first cover and having it be CARDMAKER makes it even more special.

Here is the cover, my card is on the left and my friend Glenda's card is on the right.  I am double excited to share the cover with Glenda.  I had the chance to meet her last year and she is a really sweet person.  AND this is her first cover too :-)
My card uses washi tape (my favorite place to shop for washi tape is Chickydoodle on Etsy) and a Gina K Designs sentiment!  I love how fun and fresh this cover looks.  I am really excited!

Thanks for letting me share my news.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Head on over to Sharon's blog, to continue the hop and see you at the party tomorrow!  Here is a close up picture.

Ribbon Inspiration/Stamp Simply Style - Bo Bunny

Hi everyone!!  Welcome to this week's Ribbon Inspiration Stamp Simply Style. This week we are all using Bo Bunny products!  I chose to use papers from the Country Garden 6x6 pad.  This paper is really pretty and has a smattering of newsprint throughout which is on trend right now.
You can find all the Bo Bunny products in stock here.
I went with some of the blue papers in the pad and they are a perfect match to the blue silk ribbon and Bliss pearls.  The sentiment is from JustRite's Musical Notes Labels Twenty.  I made the roses from Spellbinders Rose Creations die templates.

Each week we will have fabulous Blog Candy and this week is a $20 gift certificate to the store!  The winner will be drawn from comments on one of today’s participating blogs, one comment per blog, please.  The winner will be selected at 6 p.m. EST on Tuesday, May 29th and posted on Sharon's Blog on Wednesday.
You must check back to claim your prize if you are the lucky winner!
Here is a list of today's participants:

My card also follows Chupa's amazing Sketchbook Saturday Challenge 60.  Not only are her sketches some of my favorites, but I love that there is no deadline, so you can play anytime you have a chance.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop!  I'll leave you with a close up picture.

A couple rejects (hey wait, that sounds weird!)

Hi everyone!  Long time no post.  Sidebar, isn't it funny when people say that?  It's not like you realized it's been while since I have posted -lol!  Anyway, I have been busy behind the scenes making Spellbinders projects.  CHA is just around the corner, just sayin'...!  I don't have anything new to share, but here are a couple cards that were publication submission rejects.  I made these about 8 months ago, I found them when I was cleaning out my photo files and realized I hadn't blogged them.

This circle card uses Waltzingmouse Stamps
This CAS card uses Gina K Designs stamps
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  Here are a couple close up shots.

CardSwaps: Unscramble It blog hop, Time to Shine

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the a special blog hop, today the CardMaker blog team was asked to hop along with CardSwaps.  For those of you don't know, CardSwaps is a forum connected with CardMaker magazine which has challenges, games, recipes and chatting!  I am very excited to play along today.

Today's theme is Time to Shine which focuses on glittery, shimmery stuff and we were asked to make a card for an occasion you would see on a "Time to Shine" day, such as graduation, wedding or birthday.  I chose to make a simple wedding card because that was my most special day that I shined!  My card is shiny in several ways.  It's hard to photograph, but the main white and dotted panel are matted to Silver Mirror Cardstock!  It tends to photograph as black, but it's so pretty and shiny IRL.  I also have a thin strip of Scor-Tape with glitter and there are stickles on my flowers.
This card uses the lovely stamp set, Vintage Rose Medallions from JustRite Papercrafts with the coordinating Spellbinders die templates.  For the sentiment, I die cut it in the smaller shape and hand cut using an Xacto knife around the roses part and tucked the top and bottom ends underneath.

So here is the twist, today's hop is an Unscramble It Hop.  Which means all participants were assigned a LETTER for our blog post so write them down, and you will unscramble a word or phrase once you collect them all.  The last hostess in the blog hop will direct you to the thread in the CardSwaps forum where you can find all the details you need to enter the drawing.  On May 23rd, one lucky hopper will have their name drawn and will win a prize!!  Fun, right?? I have a couple hints for you: it’s a phrase, it has four words, and it’s a way you will be able to shine.

My letter is:  A

If you came from Ana's blog, you are in the right place.  Here is the complete list of hoppers, in case you got lost along the way:
The next stop on the hop is Judy!  Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the hop!  I'll leave you with a close up picture.

Hi everyone!  Welcome to today's CardMaker blog hop!  The theme is What A Difference You've Made, and the blog team was asked to make a card thanking a teacher or mentor in your life.  Well, some of you may know that this is Teacher's Appreciation Week and I took this opportunity to make a card for each of my son's teachers.

My cards use the stamp set Back To School from Gina K Designs -this set has some cute images and the perfect sentiment I was looking for!  I bought a Starbucks gift card to tuck into each card, cause who doesn't like a little Starbucks to start your day?!

I am the last stop on this hop!  So if you just joined with me, be sure to head over to the CardMaker blog and catch it from the beginning!  You will want to see how each of the girls thanked a teacher or mentor in their life!

Here is my card: Just a Note
My card uses the following Supply List:
Spellbinder dies:
·        S4-359Office Supplies
·        S5-086Bitty Blossoms
Cross Promotional Partners:
·        MyMind's Eye, Lost and Found "Portobello Road" 6x6 pad
·        WorldwinPapers, Ivory cardstock
·        Want2Scrap, Say it With Pearls 72 count -LeCreme and Say it With Pearls Finesse Swirls LeCreme
·        Clear Snap, ColorBox in Black, Charcoal and Toffee
Preferred Partner Partners:
·        GinaK Designs, Vintage Notes and Nature's Greetings stamp set

Here are all the dies for my card set out on the Base Plate.  See how easy it is to fit all the dies you need for your card with one pass through of the Grand Calibur® Die Cutting and Embossing Machine?  Saves so much time!
To add a little extra sparkle on the leaves, I embossed them with glitter embossing powder.  Here you can see I inked up the leaves while they are still in the die (this is called stenciling).
Next you pour the glitter EP over the VersaMark ink and emboss.  See the perfect "leaf veins" stenciling creates?  Love that!!  Notice the coffee filter below?  I use that to collect the extra embossing powder, and the powder slides easily back into the container without leaving a mess behind.

Retro Sketches -roses and washi tape

Hi everyone!  I took a little time last weekend to play along with a new-to-me sketch challenge blog.  It's called Retro Sketches.  I have seen some of my blogging buddies play along with these before and this week's sketch called out to me.  I received a new order of Washi Tape (yeah, MORE!) and had to bust them out and play!
My card uses the Spellbinders Rose Creations die templates, Washi Tape from Chickydoodle and accents from The Stamp Simply Ribbon Store.
See the flower made from the matching Washi Tape?  To make that, I covered some cardstock with the tape and die cut it.  Works perfect if you want a matching layer with your tape!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!  Here is a close up picture.

Card deets:
Stamps - Pleasant Plurals (Gina K Designs)
Cardstock - AMuse
Accessories - Washi Tape (Chickydoodle), Green pearls and bakers Twine (Stamp Simply Ribbon Store), stickles
